An 11-year old girl in Albuquerque, New Mexico, thought she’d met the boy of her dreams late last year, when playing World of Warcraft. The young man in question, Alex Trowell, was 18, and lived a couple of states over, in Idaho.
meh the only people here who were stupid were the parents 11 year old with a WOW account and cell phone mmk am i old fashioned for think this is a red flag already?
I was really scared reading this article that the guy was going to turn out having killed her. Glad that nothing truly damaging happened to the girl.
Wow an 18 year old trying to hook up with a 12 year old. What a man.
People are idiots. What more proof do you need? We all have our faults. In this case it was a huge case of naivety.
What is the world coming to
WOW, that's ****ed up. :)
*Looks at title* Hmmm 12 years old huh? *Reads first line of article* Hmmm 11 years old huh?
"(...) late last year" "the girl (who was now 12 years old)" It might help to read past the first line next time you come across something peculiar like that.
In fairness it's not really worth reading past the first line.

I hope They Lock Him Up and Throw away the Key. This Kind of thing will only happen again as he begins to get older, Eleven is way to young, hes obviously a Pedaphile. Once Your 18 Your an Adult. Nuff Said.
That's not how the law works. Even 18 is a young age. The parents are too blame here, not the individuals involved. I mean they could have feelings for each other but not know what they are doing is wrong. It's still very common occurrence, nonetheless
Your an idiot. HES FACING CHARGES YOU DUMBASS. OF COURSE THATS HOW THE LAW WORKS. I CANT BELIEVE YOU COME HERE AND SIDE WITH HIM. HAVE YOU EVEN SEEN THE GIRL? SHES BARELY DEVELOPED AND IS MISSING A FRONT TOOTH, YOUR NO BETTER THAN HIM FOR DEFENDING HIM YOU ****.
@instagib That's pretty immature. The law isn't perfectly black and white. 18 is a young age. I don't buy you being a child one day and an adult the next. There's a transition period and the law accepts and understands that to a degree. Love isn't always logical, especially among young people where the line between acceptable and unacceptable blurs on a case by case basis and where confusion is rampant. Young people need help, not jail time.
don't get your panties in a bunch what he said is technically somewhat true that's not really how the law works just because someone is 18 doesn't mean they are going to throw the book at him (only happens in certain severe cases) look at what hes being charged with child enticement and transporting a minor hes going to be charged with what he did NOT with what he could have done
by 18 you definitely know the difference between right and wrong and you don't go persuading a child to move and dating them for reasons, your just as bad as him, i feel sorry for the poor kid!!!
@jneul I wasn't sure of the difference when I was 18. I'm an upstanding citizen but back then I had a lot of transitional issues. Think of it this way. When your 14 and you look at another 14 year old and think she's hot. Why would your opinion change 4 years later just because your an adult by law? I can tell you it doesn't and if your not emotionally prepared to deal with it then you can end up in a relationship with a minor. I'm speaking from experience here. It's not easy.
I have recently gone through this translation period and at the time, it is a confusing and scary part of life. You know that you can't look at say a 13-14 year old and go, "hey, she looks alright", but when your sisters throws a birthday party and you're a 18 year old your brain is confused. Know I don't even have those thoughts, but those years made me force myself into an 'adult' mindset. Don't think I would have ever done anything like this though, I still knew it was wrong.
i've a;ways wondered what makes the guy wrong in all this? i mean in general guys can never be with a younger girl without being called pedos. and even if the girl is the one who set everything up the guy gets all the blame. I mean the only ones who recive all the blame is basically the guy, just because shes 11/12 doesnt mean she didnt know better. ah forget it its pretty complicated to explain right now anyway :(
double standards if it was an 18 year old girl doing this with a 12 year old boy allot of the people who act like they are sickened by this would be all woot what a playa etc etc you get the picture
Girls are more vulnerable I guess. They defiantly need more protection but young boys are left too exposed to this IMO. TBH though when I was 12 if a hot 18yo wanted to have sex with me I wouldn't have had any problem with it. I think this is a major difference between boys and girls in these cases. It's all well and good romantically until sex is involved (or you get caught IMO.
What's with the capitalization of the first letter of some of the words?
The girl that fake her death is lame. Where does she get that money to play WOW? She is not even old enough to work.
where do you think?
and you thought you were hardcore? that girls hardcore. btw i can understand why people might be suspicious of his motives, but they said even after meeting that nothing had happened, seems to me like if the police didnt stop him the first time things wouldnt have escalated this far. though i am wondering why this guy wanted to meet the 11-12 year old so bad, i mean cmon, there are girls your age out there that are your age
Haha dear god.
Lol. What an hero...
Now that is just sad. Anyways i am really not surprised because for some reason WoW gets all sorts of weird news so this should seem normal by now.
That dude should have known better.. A Pedophile in the making if you ask me.. Just a matter of time until he goes for even younger girls.. *tut* *tut* I think he should be permanently banned from playing WoW, its the best decision IMO.
what the hell is an 11 year old doing playing WoW, owning a cell phone.... what is the world coming to.
I'm 17, and I still don't have a cellphone lol. Kids these days are spoiled
so... how do u guys feels if the guy was 17?
