RobGroove stumbled upon this article recently on the LATimes website. It could mean all these class act law suits being filed against sony could be blocked. The timing for Sony couldn't have been better with the recent flux of sue hungry Americans on the Sony war path.

Law has so many back doors I wouldn't be surprised

Temporary_Name2788d ago

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony got sued.

Yeah all sony have to say is, "TOS"/

I wouldn`t be surprised if Sony won.

The class action will fail. It's like robbers breaking into a bank BUT they take all of the vital information of everyone banking there and some money and you sue the bank for not doing more to keep the bank robbers out.

'Yeah all sony have to say is, "TOS"/ '

Yeah, because a TOS means it's ok if Sony gets hacked and lose all your personal details. A TOS rules over everything.

well actually kramun the TOS will end those court battles there is no fault on sony

sony encrypted your cc info (you have to encrypt that info before any CC company will even deal with you sooo thats taken care of)

THE HACKERS are the one that stole your info not sony. for a court case to win aginst sony the plaintiff will have to prove that sony didnt protect info to the best of thier ability (which im sure they did)
everything can be hacked the recent ps3 console hacks just proved this

and as far as the TOS goes you agreed to it and to put your information on those servers... if you were worried about security at all you wouldnt have agreed hence no PSN acess sooo take your pick

There are a lot of frivolous lawsuits in the US. The problems though are two fold:

a) If you can't sue the big man without staking your life on it, how many would voice dissent against the big (or even small) corporations?

b) However, if you allow lawsuits without repercussion (like we have now), then we get a lot of frivolous lawsuit instead. It cost a lawyer a mere two quarters to serve you a lawsuit that will cost you thousands!

How do you balance that?

Dart892788d ago (Edited 2788d ago )

So does that mean i can sue you for speaking the truth??I'll see you in court buddy jk xDDD.

@below well you better pay up right now or im taking you back to court xDDDD JK.

HeretoSpeakTheTruth2788d ago (Edited 2788d ago )

LOL i am sure you can get away with that in the court and Win the case lol

SPeaking the truth you Owe Dart 89 100 million Dollars for Spreading the truth but Judge no Buts

:Dart 89 that was easy LOL

fedexas2788d ago (Edited 2788d ago )

A person can sue for a missing shoe if they wanted to.

I think Sony will do well in court too. They have enough evidence to prove they did everything they could to prevent this breach from expanding.

This could have been much worse.

GamerSciz2788d ago

I think in the end Sony will owe money but I don't think it will be from being sued. Moreover just the loss in production and the cost of making the PSN that much more secure so it can get back up online.
