In a title sold nearly exclusively for it's suggestive materials, Catherine has been a gigantic anime success in Japan. As it moves to North American soil, suggestions appear to be turning away in favor of - Well, lack thereof.
Really? There's worse things on bus stops these days. And they had to edit this.
You're absolutely right. Advertisements in prime-time TV programming show more than these covers, but as is the way of Americans.
Fail Atlus. These new covers blow.
I agree, watching RTV (MTV is reality tv now) and watching Gaga and Rihanna is more provocative than these covers.
while it makes no sense and is really annoying I don't really mind as long as the game itself isn't censored. There is content FAR more risque in the game itself so I would hope they won't be editing any of that. Although seeing as this is ATLUS they should know what will happen if they edit anything(and they have been really good not editing anything for quite awhile)
Censorship... I hate it
agreed tho i dont see a problem with the original 360 cover art i can understand the ps3 one either way at least they did a good job at altering it
are u kidding me? why would this be censored in any way if things like porn in North america are uncensored while porn in Japan is censored no sense is being made here man
Without the suggestive cover, this game will not succeed. Sure it will sell a little to the fans, but the average gamer won't give it a second glance.
Such is life in Jesusland.
OMG, they completely ruined the cover art of the blonde chick. 0_0
or so i thought lol.
This story's inaccurate Don't panic, guys. According to the Escapist, Atlus said: "The vast majority of copies available at launch will feature the cover we originally unveiled, essentially the Japanese cover of the game. A small percentage of copies, however, will feature a cover that is more considerate of certain retailers' broader customer demographic. Fans need not worry; Catherine's cover art is NOT being altered for North America. There is just an extra option being made available for more sensitive shoppers" http://www.escapistmagazine... Man, I really wish you didn't have to tiptoe around the whole "some games are actually made for adults" thing with people. On the other hand, I prefer this over getting accusing glances at the register, and then having to explain to my parents why this isn't a porno on my game shelf. (shut up, I'm 19 and live there during the summer)
@ 19 you can go out an buy porn no prob your above legal age. Well minus some states that make you be 21 to get porn.
Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's approved of by Catholic mothers. It's not like they'd kick me out or anything, just.... it would be REALLY awkward.
Is that how it is N4G? So I can post a story as a trainee, but I have to be a contributor just to add that link as an alt source to this? Something just seems wrong about that.
So much for freedom of expression. Old covers are better.
WOW The covers are ruined, they look like shyt. Theres no artistic expression and no meaning in the new covers. People will look at it and will move on without a second thought.
I'm feeling raped by censors
Censorship is lame, but I can't imagine anybody taking that game with the original cover to the counter at Best Buy. "Have a good day, enjoy your video game porn, sir."
Just make both the censored and uncensored version of the game and cover and put mine in a plain brown wrapper when I buy it. Problem solved
I like how its an option to get what cover you want, im not getting the pansy cover though, I dont care what people think I buy XD
im not buying the new cover game i`ll find the Europe edition and buy it :) let them learn that this move suck`s
Not to upsetting as long as nothing ingame gets cut. But we shouldn't have to worry much. Being it on Atlus, this game its going to be sweet.
