Andreas Asimakis writes, "The design here is of the utmost brilliance, so much so that it really makes you wonder how clever the folks behind these titles really are. While any puzzle-solving method can be easily deduced once the right pieces fall into place, Portal 2 is leaps and bounds ahead of its former self in terms of the puzzles themselves; there is a decent amount of environmental exploration that goes into moving through each of the facility's testing grounds. For a title that is essentially linear, the experience never feels tied down or even limited – quite the contrary in fact. There is remarkable amount of freedom that comes with each area of Aperture Science; the trial and error gameplay has never felt so wonderfully varied. And reveling in those 'a-ha!' moments when completely a room of this puzzle-laden playground never grows old."
