Racing games have come a long way since Ridge Racer made the jump from coin-op to home consoles here in the states back in 1995. Titles such as Gran Turismo, which emphasize meticulous vehicle customization and authentic driving physics have since risen to popularity.
Despite this fact, Namco’s classic series has remained largely unchanged, and Ridge Racer 3D is no exception; eschewing realism to maintain its arcade roots. Is this engine still going strong? Or is it just running on fumes?
