SOCOM: Special Forces Review - nyleveia

SOCOM:Special Forces (SOCOM:U.S. Navy SEALs in the americas) then set out to right the wrongs of the previous title while offering a singleplayer experience to the mix for good measure, unfortunately these attempts seem to have failed as the singleplayer experience feels disjointed and lacking any real involvement of the player at all, while online play seems to suffer from the very same issues previous titles were. (PS3, SOCOM Special Forces) 6.5/10

R.I.P Socom...
its just really frustrating to see this happening to what was one of the best franchises of all time. All fans really want is that hardcore realistic feel of older Socoms, something totally different than anything else out there, not a game that's trying to be COD like.

Despite the death in originality of the Socom franchise...I believe the birth of a new team oriented MP is something that has replaced it.

Socom has changed into a 3rd person version of MAG.

Which is a good or bad thing, depends on your taste.

New team oriented?

Sorry, but if you didn't play as a team in "old school" Socom, you would not last long.

unfortunately there aren't enough fans to cover development costs. Gameplay must be catered to a wider audience. If you don't like this trend, get out and stop gaming.

yeah...shame on us fans. we expect Mario Bros and get Pac Man instead.

theres not enough fans because Seth Luisi and company have went above and beyond to try to cater to a broader audience with each and every release only to further alienate the fan base and lose the existing fanbase, while not attracting a new fanbase because all the older players have washed their hands of the franchise.

If its not broke, dont fix it. Still holding on to hope that somebody at sony will do us justice and give us Socom 2 hd remake.

I have it and a 6 is way too low...the game is just fine.....No need to say RIP because the online multiplayer and Coop will be full for years to come. The singleplayer story mode and missions are a lot of fun as well. Don't get sucked in with these half-assed, amateur reviews. 8.5 to 9.5 range easily.

no way is this game a 6. SP is not why I play Socom and the MP and coop are awesome on this game. Anyone who compares this to COD in any way is a moron IMO.

I've been playing if for the past few hours and I gotta say 6.5/10 is spot on. I wanted to love this game, really. But there's just something not right about it. I suggest giving it a rent.

Let's be honest, people who like the game are going to say it deserves more, people who don't probably think it deserves less, but just the average joe who hasnt really been all that in to the series, 6-7 is about right.

To those replying saying it deserves more, 6.5 isn't exactly a bad score, if it was sub-5 then sure, but it's only 3.5 away from perfection, so don't take offence.

Where do all these "online play has issues" reviews come from? I've played the beta for a couple weeks on end, and played today, with no probs whatsoever. It's like these reviewers looked at Destructoid's messed up review, and just cut-and-pasted it.

I just played a game of coop, and boy was it a blast. All four of us had mics and communicated throughout the whole match. I would give this game a solid 8.
