Nintendo's Market Value Soars to $85 Billion

On Monday, Nintendo's market value surpassed 10 trillion yen ($85 billion) in market value, making it one of the bluest of Japanese blue-chip stocks, where the likes of Toyota and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group are placed. Nintendo is the second most valuable company in Japan right now, but it has only $85 billion in market cap in Japan.

Microsoft's market cap is $282 billion, and it's not even the largest in the US - I think it's the 4th or 5th most valuable company in the world.

(Sony's market value is $48 billion in total. Toyota is $203.30 billion.)

The US definitely PWNs Japan when it comes to company market values.

I can be wrong... but the list you gave is listing the companies based on their revenues and not their profits... This list should not be use to measure the success of a company.

General Motors (5 on list!)
Revenues: 207,349.0 bil
Profits: -1,978.0 bil

Microsoft (139 on list):
Revenues: 44,282.0 bil
Profits: 12,599.0 bil

Sony (69 on list)
Revenues: $70,924.8 bil
Profits: 1,080.1 bil

What do you think about this list?
http://money.cnn.com/magazi...

Ford is ranked #1 and General Motors at #5 on the "biggest Money lossers" yet their rank of the fortune 500 seem very good.

Look at this list:
Top Companies Highest Profits
http://money.cnn.com/magazi...

Do you see who's on the 20th place?

A company can generate lost of revenues and yet be in some serious finantial trouble.

One advantage that microsoft have as a Software company that many companies do not have is the ability to turn large profits without the need of having lots of revenues.
They spend less than many companies and still turn more profits than most companies...

Take wallmart for example, ranked #1 their revenue were 351,139.0!!!! profits? 11,284... That's less than Microsoft at 12,599.0 who's revenue were 306,857.0 less than wallmart...

Careful when investing your money... the global rank does not mean you will not put your money in the toillet.

The value will self correct when the hysteria is over.
