Halo CE is where gaming all started for me...

Halo CE is where Xbox started for me. Otherwise I would have probably cared less about the system.

I def agree with MGS1 aka MGS before it went from kickass to batshit crazy. Also, Halo CE changed the shooter genre forever and ushered in competetive play.

Yeah Halo definately made the FPS popular on the console and introduced competitive play on consoles. And then the sequel broke the barrier of online.

dont have the awesome ranked clan system from halo 2, I used to think thzt was great.

@solidus

That's an issue I have with all the post Halo 2 halos. Im a competitive gamer so I loved the clan system.

Solidus187-SCMilk2678d ago

but I thought the story and characters in 2 were crap, especially when compared to MGS1.

MGS1 had awesome story and characters especially.

I think what HALO did was it showed a co op world for console gaming on an entire new level and it so happened to have solid graphics and a strong story

and of course HALO 2 is the reason console online gaming became a success

I think there is only one thing really that made these games stand out "big time"

Innovation. 'Nuff said.

DEUS EX
Half-Life 1
Mario 64
Goldeneye
MGS
Perfect Dark- N64 could barley run this game with or without the expansion pack. It had Co-op and even a Counter-Op mode.
Metal Gear Solid 1
Star fox 1

Edit- The article is wrong when it says halo had online. It wasnt online until halo 2. Halo 1 made system link and Co-op campaign popular.

Halo CE on the pc had online multiplier.

palaeomerus2678d ago

Besides the PC version some people used tunneling software for online play.

Solidus187-SCMilk2678d ago (Edited 2678d ago )

The article says that: halo brought online gaming to console gamers. It didnt, halo 2 did. He clearly isnt talking about halo on PC when he says "Console gamers" now is he.

This article wasn't talking about halo on PC either as it came out 2 years after halo on xbox did, so I dont see how the PC version is ahead of its time if it came out 2 years later.
