Portal 2: Pretty Much Every PS3 Question Answered (and that Cake thing, too)

US PlayStation Blog - Sid Shuman // Senior Social Media Specialist writes:

"Valve Software has repeatedly described Portal 2 for the PS3 as being “the best console version of the game.” And for good reason, given that you’ll get a free PC or Mac version of Portal 2 along with your PS3 copy, as well as exclusive cross-platform PS3-to-PC co-op gameplay and voice chat, Steamworks features and much more. Good stuff!"

For your Steam account, we have Steam Achievements that mirror the Trophies and those are always up to date between the PC and PS3. That does not include Trophies, however. Trophies have to be unlocked on the PS3.

Thats lame, so if you play a part of the game on pc and unlock an achievement it wont unlock the trophy. But if you get the trophy it will unlock the achievement.

they work on different principles, seriously you're complaining about that? Free PC copy, cross platform play, steamworks, updates hopefully same as PC and you complain you don't get trophies for playing on the PC.

^ im not getting so im not complaining. Im just pointing out that both should unlock regardless of which one your playing. I dont see how its so hard to do that if they can do it the other way around.

Beat it on PC and beat it on the PS3.

He isn't complaining...he is simply stating thats lame. Which it is...

It's like stating something like that about anything auto makes you a hater. If we all lay back and let them make PacMan games we wouldn't be where we are today...

Its lame that trophies are not unlocked via PC...fix it in the future. Enough said.

I actually agree with you a little. I'll be playing mostly on PC, but I'm buying the PS3 version so I can play both. However, since I'm getting one version free...I'm not going to complain. If I want trophies (which I like better than Steam achievements), I'll just have to beat it again on PS3.

No it didn't answer my question :(
If a PC user makes his own Portal 2 puzzle map with mods can we somehow download it from Steam? Because THAT would be cool! (Talking about PS3 users)

"...those are always up to date between the PC and PS3"

When he says "up to date", he might just mean that you need to load your game save from your steam account on the PS3 before it actually unlocks it...without having to complete the requirement a second time.

Maybe I'm just reaching

Persistantthug2682d ago (Edited 2682d ago )

I'm curious how their going to implement that.

Edit in...

And another thing....

How are they going to tackle duplicate names?
If I'm Persistantthug on the PS3 Steam, what if there's a Persistantthug on the MAC Steam?

Soldierone2682d ago

You link Steam accounts to PS3 accounts. It won't use your PS3 name, it will use the Steam name when on PC. For example if you are Persistan1 on PS3, your account could be Persistant2 on PC, but it'd technically be the same account in the Cloud. You just link them together.

If you create a new account, obviously you wont be able to take someone elses name on that platform.

Persistantthug2682d ago (Edited 2682d ago )

What if someone who's had steam for years has the name Persistantthug?
If I buy the game on Tuesday, I want my name.

How can we both have the same name?

NarooN2681d ago

MAC and PC Steam are the same, just coded to run on different OS's. If someone already has that account name on Steam, you're just gonna have to use another one, but it doesn't matter anyway since you can change your Steam display name to anything you want whenever you want.

Is the story more of the same sort of experience as the first? The story is longer and more developed, however, I wonder if there is dialog and exploration in addition to linear levels with increasing levels of difficulty...

The free Steam copy alone is a great reason to buy the PS3 version. $20 credit from Amazon doesn't hurt one bit.
