SlySoft: AnyDVD's new AI to crack future DRM in HD DVDs, Blu-ray discs

ExtremeTech reports: SlySoft, which earlier released a program to automatically strip the copy protection from HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs, has released an update that will "future-proof" the software from future protections, the company claims.

AfterDawn reports: SlySoft claims AnyDVD now contains code that will be able to crack new DRM that may be added or changed in the future. The feature, officially called an "AI scanner", is supposed to work similarly to antivirus software, which can heuristically find new viruses. AnyDVD is a popular program for removing copy protection from DVDs, HD DVDs, and BDMV discs.

Which means it'll be able to crack any DRM in *game* DVDs/HD DVDs/BDs in the future.

good DRM is the devil.

as a side note i BUY all my games, music, and movies, i simply belive i should be able to do what i want with them after i buy them. so again fvck DRM and all those that use it.

on why studios SHOULDN'T worry about DRM.

For DVD and HD DVD this is good (sans the need for HD DVD burner if you want it on disks). For BD, all that would be needed is a 'hack' on the player side to go around BD+, something that WILL happen and yet another failed attempt by the BDA.

I buy ALL my movies (and games) that I want full use of. But if it's a watch or play once, I see no big deal to rip a disk if rental is not an option. I've double dipped in movies already (owned DVD and bought HD DVD version of disk) so the greedy ass studios should shove it. Big + for the hackers though :)
