Kinect hackers, rejoice! Your favorite hobby is about to get a bit easier. At its MIX 11 conference Wednesday, Microsoft announced that it’s opening a beta software development kit and that developers can now sign up for the spring SDK notifications.
Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet reported that Microsoft is planning to release a May 16 version of the kit for hobbyists.
The kit will include sketal tracking for one or two people, advanced audio capabilities and an XYZ depth camera to indicate an object’s distance from the Kinect.
