Rumor: Nintendo Cutting Wii Price to $150 on May 15th?

Engadget: "Nintendo's miniature white monolith has sold like gangbusters for long enough that we're wary it'll ever get cheap, but a trusted source tells us a price cut is indeed headed our way -- and that the Nintendo Wii will cost just $150 starting May 15th. The timing would make some sense, given how Nintendo's profits have tanked for a while due to flagging hardware sales, and just last month Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime hinted that the Wii's price might be a potential variable to change that in an interview with Gamasutra."

Makes sense, as sales have dropped and the Wii 2 is around the corner.

There is some fun to be had on the Wii. I guess you can wait for the inevitable $99, and maybe even Gamecube low $49, because I doubt the next console will be fully backwards compatible with the, because they'll have to use motion controls for it.

im not losing anything, i had the wii and i didnt use it for 2 years so i sold it

I'm also wondering if the NDS(DS lite,DSi, and DS XL models) will have a price cut as well.

Its highly likely they will all get cuts this year...

I think it's definitely possible.

Although May seems like kind of an odd time for a price cut, given that Nintendo will still be focused on early promotion of the 3DS. They're holding back new Wii software until after E3 to keep the Wii from cannibalizing 3DS demand, so it seems odd for them to try to stimulate demand with a price cut.

A price cut to $150 sometime between E3 and the holidays makes a lot of sense though.

A little over due actually.

A lot over due and the thing should cost $99.99 by now. I can get a 360 slim 4Gig for under $150 new.
