Ninja Gaiden 3 Explores the Heart of Violence, but can Team Ninja Pull it Off?

Andreas Asimakis writes, "When I look back on my years as a young gamer, the thought that I was playing a game that could have been considered violent never entered my innocent, pre-adolescent mind. Whether I was squashing Goombas, stabbing Octoroks or blasting Metools, it was all good times to me. But as gaming moved out of its simple sprite-based world, so too did its violence become much more apparent. Fallen enemies that would rapidly blink and vanish from the screen, now bled; their tortured screams providing the sadistic soundtrack of what was once a series of computerized bleeps. I was no longer putting pixels to rest, I was ending the lives of characters with a voice. While many of my childhood games would transition into an M-Rated catalog, none had become more unapologetically violent than Ninja Gaiden."

I don't know about that. Ninja Gaiden is a pretty IP. I'm not saying it will outsell Call of Duty, but it won't be ignored either.

I played NG1 & 2 on the PS3 and I liked the first one better. Although, honestly, they'd have to change quite a bit about it. Thinking about the third game makes me feel a bit bored already. Like I've done it before...

Let's see how that gameplay footage turns out.

If you are a fan of these quick hack and slash combo centric games than i am sure this game wont disapoint you.

However as far as the headline goes?

Ninja gaiden honesty hasnt been one of those series that literally engolves you into a story.

Its rather a mediocre game when it comes to story telling very simplistic yet predictable. No surprises or real dramatic moments just pure action and linear at that.

Not much on character development here, but this is something that goes un-noticed and is often instead associated with killzone's main character sev.

Now with all that said i think its fair to say i have my dobts but we never know for sure until the end product is in our hands.

Well, Ninja Gaiden's current installments were a bit disappointing in terms of its story. I mean, what does it say if Ninja Gaiden 2 on the NES had the better plot. I really wish they would revisit the story elements of the original trilogy.

I know i had a nes and played those out to death, however i am referring to the current installments. Now the old ones, those were truly something if you ask me.

Me too. This is one of the few series that I actually care about. I just hope that Team Ninja knows what it's doing.
