Nintendo's Wii to Widen Lead Over PS3, Xbox, Enterbrain Says

Bloomberg reports: "Nintendo Co.'s Wii game console will widen its lead over Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 during the year-end shopping season in Japan, researcher Enterbrain Inc. said."

First, why do these keep getting posted? Do we as gamers really care about financial predictions from analysts?

"The Wii will post the largest sales growth during the holiday season, Hirokazu Hamamura, president of Tokyo-based video-game research firm Enterbrain, told reporters today. He didn't provide specific forecasts." -- if they are already selling at capacity, how is that growth? Also, no specific forecasts = easy BS predictions such as "oh, it might rain tomorrow."

Finally, no one cares about this crap! Give us gaming news. gCM

Edit: PS360Wii: we're saying the same thing essentially. These financial "predictions" (without any specific forecasts mind you) are nothing-- again I ask, how will they show growth if they are already selling everything they can produce? Also, count me in the number that has a Wii (plus 360) but the Wii is gathering dust. We'll pick up Mario Galaxy when it comes out, but the "must haves" just are just too far between for me and my family.

well it's kind of half and half with this site and is that so wrong. First and foremost we'd like to hear about games, but also we don't mind hearing about how a console is selling and what games are selling.

Anyway, analyst stuff is a bit unwanted for it's just guessing. I could make a guess and call myself an analyst. The only thing they got on me is that they get paid to make guesses.

Nintendo cares, as do publishers and the markets. They actually make money on their consoles, so it's beneficial to the company's growth and finances their strategies for the immediate future. What people forget (cause they're so used to the consoles sold at loss model) is that, the longer Nintendo stays ahead, the greater their power to stay ahead gets and they become much harder to beat than a Sony or MS that's ahead.

And my Nintendo Wii's getting played every day with an attach rate of 7 (and we will be buying several more games this christmas). Therefore my data cancels out yours.

Seriously, the plural of anecdote is not data.
