Okami sequel coming to PS3?

TVGB: "Okami was the kind of game that won us over in our hearts, though not in sales. The poor performance of this PS2 gem spelled doom for the future of the franchise, but Capcom were willing to give it another shot with a Wii port and Okamiden on DS."

... the game always seemd very interesting to me, but I missed out because I didn't have a PS2 or Wii.

Would be nice to see the original get a HD make-over and get a re-release on XBLA/PSN.

Same goes for Power Stone and Viewtiful Joe btw.

hay2289d ago

If it'd happen it'd say one thing to Capcom:

lociefer2289d ago

if there's a game that proves that games are art this is it

colonel1792289d ago

Me too!
I hate Capcom, but if they release a sequel and get it right (and uses PS3 power) all that hate will become love.. and it will be all frogiven

Rikitatsu2289d ago

Without the original team that made the first Okami, I can't get excited by a sequel.

Okamiden felt like a rehash of parts of the first Game and its decent at best.

Unless they get PlatinumGames (the original developers) to make it, then I won't care.

crxss2289d ago

Loved the first one and about to play Okamiden since i just picked up a 3DS! can't wait!

you didn't have a PS2 ? now that is weird.

NeutralGamer2289d ago (Edited 2289d ago )

I actually never owned a PS2 my self :(

Always borrowed my friends for completing games like MGS3...

I had the redesigned Playstation One though:

Yi-Long2289d ago

...I don't know. I just never bought one.

I had a Dreamcast, which was cool, and I followed that up with an Xbox (the original one), and I had fun with those two and never really felt a need to buy a PS2. Not sure why btw.

I do have a PS3 now though, so I'm happy many of the old PS1 and PS2 classics are getting HD-releases now, so I can still check them out and enjoy them :)

AyeGee2289d ago

Definitely agree with you bro.. Okami was one of my favorite games. And Power Stone? I haven't played that game in ages!

HBK6192289d ago

I believe the rumours started when Capcom released Okami avatars on the PSN.

Now, one has to ask, why release Okami avatars when that specific game isn't on the system? BECAUSE IT'S COMING, THAT'S WHY!

Will be great to see it on the PS3 with Move, might even just be worth HD-ing Okami as well.

BlackTar1872289d ago

yea okami is a playable in MvC3 and a pain int he ass to fight against at first

MasterChief36242289d ago

Indeed. Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and that also explains Viewtiful Joe avatars showing up.

princejb1342289d ago

excellent game
loved the ps2 one currently playing the ds game love it

i hate the fact that it didnt sell much, i guess ones people see the cover art is about a dog that paints they seem to turn their head around

TotalPS3Fanboy2289d ago

Okami on the PS3, like how it's meant to be played.

MasterChief36242289d ago

No offense, but the PlayStation Move is not precise enough for the Celestial Brush stuff. Since it relies solely on the camera and not on infrared (a la Wii), it's much more sensitive and not nearly as practical.

But goodness gracious and by the magical tail of Amaterasu, would I ever love another Okami game. I can't get enough of it! :D But I think some Kingdom Hearts people said the same thing... and also some Katamari Damacy... and look what happened to those series - totally bloated with unnecessary games and sidestories (well, okay, the sidestories aren't unnecessary for Kingdom Hearts, but it is getting way too annoying having to sift through all the side games until we get the true third game).

So I hope Capcom doesn't oversaturate the market with Okami, as Okami was the only perfect game I've ever played, and it ended on an impossibly epic and perfect note. Okamiden is adorable but hasn't quite reached the same heights as its predecessor (as can be expected), but a great little game nonetheless :)

kikizoo2289d ago

Are you kidding misinformed masterchief ?

it's much more precise than wiimote, and perfect for "painting job" (just check the little game on psn)

MasterChief36242289d ago

Perhaps it's just my personal experience, then... I find the PlayStation Move to be way too sensitive at times, and very touchy in terms of the range. I'm not knocking the Move, I'm just saying I personally don't feel it's the best place to put Okami on.

A PS3 Okami would be gorgeous and amazing, and it would be cool if PlayStation Move were an optional control setting, but still be able to use the regular PS3 controls if you're like me and don't have the best experience with the Move.

ComboBreaker2289d ago

LOL. I guess you haven't seen the writing and paiting demos of Playstation Move by Richard Marks.

Don't make me pulled it up. Go Google it.

hazelamy2288d ago

i do agree that making move optional would be the way to go, not forcing players to use it.

i've never actually used move myself so i can't give an opinion one way or another as to how accurate it is.

but i would speculate that move is significantly more accurate than the wiimote would be, i've got a wii and it's not the most accurate pointing device in the world, i don't know if the motion plus add on would make any difference.

i missed on this game too and so many other great games like: Viewtiful Joe, the firs Shadow Hearts Ico and SotC etc etc.. good thing is that Ico and SotC are coming out this gen :D

zeddy2289d ago

hey hey slow down wheres my hd remake first?

pain777pas2289d ago

IT will be with the PS Move and nav controller for sure.

soren2289d ago

you saying it shuld be released on xbox live and psn is a insult ur saying its not good enough of a game to released on disk thats why i disagree with you if it would be relesed on the ps3 it should be redone just like they did on the wii though i dont think it should even be made on the ps3 at all do to the fact no one buys games like that on ps3 ppl would over look it and call it kiddie

AKS2289d ago

Okami without Clover/Platinum is kind of like the Call of Duty games without Infinity Ward. I don't buy either from the pretender replacements for the original developers.

Adopt one anyway, everyone needs a puppy! =)

vickers5002289d ago

Puppies and Okami bring happiness to this bleak world.

Rage_S902289d ago

Rage_S902289d ago

thats your opinion not mine i think its better and love the artstyle where in zelda its to bland imo. The story in zelda also bores me its the same thing since the nes.

soren2289d ago

wind wakeres art style was great and so was tp with its drak and gloomyness the stroy on zelda does pritty much sucks tp story was pritty good actully but gameplay wise zelda beats okami
