Why was Slant Six the team to approach for Operation Raccoon City? That question gets answered in a recent interview with german GamePro where producer Masachika Kawata explains the reasons why Slant Six was hired to create the game.
well juding by Socom it doesnt seem like the right idea but we will all have to see if slant six can make a come back
"Capcom explains why Slant Six was hired to create Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City" I'll tell you why without even reading the article and even give you transcripts from the meeting. Capcom wanted a call of duty type game with the recognition of one of it's own franchises and they needed some "Cheap" developers with Online Shooter experience to come in and make it happen. The guys from Lost Planet were not an option after the Financial failure of Lost Planet 2 although 1.2 million in sales across 3 platforms it was not good for Capcom. You had some clown in a suit from Capcom holding interviews Capcom suit- "we need a COD type game, FPS are all the rage on consoles so who can do it" Guy who made Lost Planet 1&2 - " well we aren't doing anything" Capcom Suit "You never did anything, that's the problem" Slant Six guy said "we made SOCOM" suit said "WOW Really now that's a franchise ...Oh wait a minute! which one"? Slant Six guy "Ok Ok Ok well do it for cheap" Capcom suit "great your hired you can work out of the Lost Planet offices as they are available".
you should read the article.
5 Kill Streak: Call Zombie Airstreak 6 Kill Streak: Call Zombie Dog Attack 7 Kill Streak: Call Jill in a Pavelow
Man, Socom: Confrontation was an absolute abortion. So many bugs that it makes Call of Duty look polished. I have to admit the laggy ass menus on that game did make me lol though!
Maybe when it first came out...but today it's more like socom then what zipper is releasing this month. I think this may come out alright...but I really need to see something on it first before I say it's crap or great.
Makes me wonder what the other choices were. No hate intended lol, just wondering XD.
The people making the game are giving it there all, Capcom have said they are working as hard as any Japanese studio. So give them a chance eh?, last thing they need is a bunch of piss ant gamers throwing negativity at them 24/7
"The people making the game are giving it there all" So? Doesn't change the fact that it'll be shit. Hell, it already looks shit! You obviously haven't seen the magazine scans from a few weeks back. "last thing they need is a bunch of piss ant gamers throwing negativity at them 24/7" Go play Socom: Confrontation and the Socom games on PSP, then come back and say that.
You haven't played the game dumbass, so don't go running your mouth off saying the game is shit.
@AnimeAvenger: You're right, I haven't played it, but I have played the devs other games, all of which are Socom-related and all of which are shit. Therefore, I have a right to call this game shit. As I mentioned in my reply to Ace, there are magazine scans of the game on a couple of sites. It has all the info needed to come to the conclusion that the game will be shit.
Sometimes I work really really hard, I give it my all, I put forth maximum effort, hell i even break a sweat sometimes trying so hard.....but when i get up off the toilet all that is left is a steaming pile of shit....just like this Game.
i will give them one more chance! but if they fuck it up then fuck them.
John Rambo agrees: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Hey buddy how about you buy me copy when you get yours so I can give them one more chance too. But hey if they fuck it up then we both can say fuck em (but at least that way we both won't out of $60 bucks) :p
This game is going to be scary to play! Confrontation kind of scary...
Thank God Treyarch aren't big fans of Resident Evil
Capcom will never learn -_-"
Capcom explains why Slant Six was hired to create Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and i quote " we are cheap, they were cheap so we thought why not run this franchise into the ground some more"
Maybe just MYABE! if they are big fans of the game, they should know that it's re1-re4 that are the best games. IF they work this out right, we might get a horror game that is great.
Slant 6 is an okay dev. Confrontation improved with time... but that's just it. Time costs money. I don't imagine Capcom is looking to have a good RE at +6 months from their planned release date -- they want it on the date itself. Honestly the two PSP SOCOMs Slant 6 did are good (Tactical Strike and FTB3), but they aren't as good as the two made by Zipper (FTB1 and FTB2). I'm seeing something of a pattern here. Slant 6 is decent, but they need a bit of a kick to push them into the realm of truly great development. It's cool that Capcom is giving them the chance to prove themselves again, though. They kinda remind me of Treyarch -- one step down from the major leagues, if you get my meaning.
Hopefully Capcom knows what there doing by hiring Slant Six. I wonder what the other companies were.....
Man, I never thought I'd see the day when Sega was turning out higher quality titles than Capcom or Square-Enix - but it looks like that day has finally come. Although, with that said, the only quality coming out of SEGA is from the Valkyria Chronicles crew and Platinum Games- but still... Its sad.
The guys who made Siren:Blood Curse, might have been a good choice to make this Resident Evil game if they didn't work for Sony.
costs are low simply as that. everything else is bullshit
The game looks great and it seems like it will be fun so i for one will give them a shot. Besides just cause they fcked up a title of SOCOM doesnt mean they will be f'ing up this title as well.
