The expansion for Crysis (Crysis:Warhead) set the bar
pretty high for what kind of extra content we might
expect from Crytek from now on.
So what should we expect from Crysis 2?, read on.. (WARNING: some Crysis 2 spoilers)
Holy spoiler image batman
Expansion and dlc are completely different. I could go to the store and buy an expansion not so with dlc. They are expected to provide pretty much new everything instead of the usual couple of maps, a weapon, or a 1 hour scenario that dlc provides. An expansion pack can be a full course meal. Dlc is usually a couple mozzarella sticks.
Thats the first 5 mins of the game man. -SPOILER- It's not like he has the gun to his head, you can't even make out the skin blemishes.
...is the map creator that was talked about so much, but was an unexplained no-show with the game. FarCry had one...even on consoles....as did Ubisoft's FarCry 2. Crysis had one. I don't know if the cityscape/buildings made it hard for them to allow for a proper toolset or what...but I want an explanation.
I only want them to fix the blocky film grain and wavy lines.
Yes please! Real BOSSES please! Stand alone Expansion ala Warhead with better textures at the very least please!
They need to fix the Lag/Network problems in the MP portion of the game before even thinking about pushing DLC out..
There has been 2 patches but neither have fixed many of the problems still present..
The game itself is great though ..
The Pinger battles were unbelievably Incredible, it felt like playing out an action sequence in a Blockbuster film, this being due to the destruction in the world map. Bigger boss battles are hard to imagine as the size of the Pinger's felt correct, much like the Strider's in Half-Life 2. However, if approached in the correct manner and not aiming for the "too over the top" feel, I would be more than happy...
I agree with you that the size of the pingers is perfect, but I was disappointed with the games finale.
I wasn't so much, I see the last mission as less a finale to Crysis 2, but a transition in to Crysis 3 or an Expansion. Alcatraz throughout the course of the game is growing in experience and becoming one with the suit, in the end of the game he has his mission and even if a huge boss was thrown at him, it wouldn't make sense for him to stop and try to defeat that whilst he needs to destroy the heart of the "Squid".
With him at the end of Crysis 2 standing proud at one with the suit, it shows that he has completed his transition and is now ready for the next stage, and with that, he is now capable of dealing with bigger threats...
I would have been disapointed with a huge boss at the end of the game, as there hadn't been shown larger creatures in the surroundings throughout the game. On several occasions games have added in a Boss at the end just for the sake of cinematic effect and had it backfire...
Sure the bosses in the original Crysis and Crysis Warhead were unbelievably awesome but I'm not sure if consoles could have managed them at this stage without the surroundings being toned down or it being on rails with you using a mounted helicopter turret...
I haven't got the game yet, but I am kind of tired of the giant boss in general. I would prefer something like the Nanosuit equipped Koreans from the first game. One question I have though is what happened to Nomad and Psycho? I watched a video walkthrough of this game, I am eagerly anticipating a Christmas sale so I can pick it up.
How about Nomad or Psycho???? Where the crap where they in this game? That's the story I want to see. Could open up some co-op action... I would also like to see a horde like mode.
