"Several years ago before we started working on the Ratchet & Clank series, we were developing an RPG/adventure game that had the working title, 'Girl with a Stick,'" says Brian Allgeier, creative director at Insomniac Games. "We worked really hard on it, but in the end the team was not very inspired and, as a result, it got canceled."
It's this mindset that gave birth to the Ratchet & Clank franchise. "When we started working on the first Ratchet & Clank game," he continues, "there was a lot of great energy and the characters and title came together in a matter of a few weeks."
"Will time travel ever be possible? Will donkeys ever fly? Seriously, the Ratchet & Clank franchise is close to everyone's hearts at Insomniac and so far we've found new and interesting challenges in making each game. As long as we can approach each game from a fresh perspective, we'll likely continue making games for the series."
