BF3 Release Date Leak, War With Next Call of Duty

EA is looking for Battlefield 3 to take the FPS from COD, Leaked from a french website shows a release date from EA's Download Manager and if true, we'll be looking at a very possible war with the next Call of Duty.
Set for 2/11/11.

November 2nd is a wednesday, so the date is just a placeholder. Games always release in Tuesday in the US and Friday in EU.

No doubt this game will be great, but they are taking on the only franchise to manage 10 million sales on a sony platform this gen, they are setting themselves up for failure.

COD has gone so mainstream now BF3 will not compete. It might be a better game but sales wise it will not do as well. I think word of mouth/review scores will entice new fans but it will not be an immediate conversion from COD to BF. Either one or two months earlier or later is the best for sales so it isn't in direct competition with COD

other games tend to release before or after because they don't fancy taking the risk..

COD is the highest selling franchise this gen and if it continues, maybe ever because it is pure quality and people that PAY for their games understand that.

E3 will huge this year for many reasons and while EA and Dice keep showing their " fantasy " PC footage and ruining all expectations for their game, Activision, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer, like the champs sit back, point there finger and laugh at them.

Nobody thought that MW2 could top COD 4, lol, then the lights dimmed and Microsoft opened their E3 showcase with this stunning, mind blowing, adrenaline inducing, shock and awe showing.

The snow drifts are NOT an estetic but a part of the game play. The soundtrack made by composer to the Hollywood elite, Hans zimmer is spot on. The weapons have perfect weight and the graphics, physics look perfect. I'm sure Battlefield will be a great game but make no mistake, COD is THE game to beat. EA and Dice is like some scrub screaming on the corner for attention.

sorry but the cod series in no way portrays realistic gunfire or physics. And "graphics" are never perfect as a newer game (BF3) will always look better. Hope you enjoy MW3 when it looks exactly the same as cod 4, even after 4 years.

It would probably be better to release a week or so before COD. Battlefield is the better game but the COD sales get the hype train behind them (EVERYONE is getting it..... shouldn't you? blah blah), so better to release before COD and get people hyping it to their mates, and reviewers (if it is as good as we hope of course) giving it some AAA reviews and then you might catch the people who are on the fence who on the day will likely take the "safe" option!

Either way I know what game I am getting!

Call of Duty isn't a shit game, it is still better than some FPS out there.... it has just gone downhill, it has waaay too many bugs, and is just an annual lick of paint over essentially the same game... and none of the games have "felt" as good as COD4 which was a good game!

It is just a series that has been milked into the ground.... and to be honest I think alot of the hate for it (which is unnecessary) comes from the over the top hype and the way people rush like sheep to buy the next one just cos it's COD!

Of course some people just get it as they like it and want a freshened up version of the same game.... but I think it would help if COD slipped down peoples radar a bit so that more people tried the other FPS out there.

I think Battlefield 3 combined with the growing weariness of COD could be the thing that shifts the numbers a bit though.... I just think that BF3 should get out before COD and make sure they get some cool marketing on the go!

Pick the 1 or 2 you want most, and play the shit out of them... and then when you get the next ones the price will likely have dropped a bit too!

If say you got Battlefield and Skyrim in the same month.... there is no way you should have any more gaming time left over.... as they will easily eat up both your singleplayer and multiplayer time!

That gives time for MW3 to get patched with the almost game breaking bugs it is almost certain to start off with.... and Uncharted nearly always starts to drop in price after about a month of release....

I'd choose to leave either Skyrim or Uncharted.... seeing as I couldn't give both games the time they deserved at the same time.... so why not play the shit out of 1 of them, and then get the other one a short time afterwards with a possible price drop?

So either of those 2 games for single player... and BF3 for some multiplayer, and knowing that the other one was waiting in the wings for when I wanted it!

Uncharted 3 and Battlefield in the same month

COD is not the best FPS ever. COD is not the King. Ok COD has sold over 16 million copies each of it's last 3 releases but sales never ever determine the winner or quality! COD is just a casual/arcade experience that has the advertisement and hype to sale a lot of copies but within 6 months the game looses it's legs. COD is the new Fad just like Halo before it. Activision did a great job of taking the appeal of Halo and putting it on every platform they could. COD is the Mainstream game that's easy to play so it appeals to everyone.

Mean while BF2 gamers have been playing the same game since 2005 and that's because of the Huge difference in quality and the COre game play. Most COD gamers don't like BF or BC2 because it's NOT a cake walk or easy game, BF and BC2 require SKILL. For 6 years BF2 servers have been very very strong. Even with the HUGE success of Bad Company 2 PC BF2 still gets thousands of gamers daily just like the ageless wonder Counter Strike.

Counter Strike and Battlefield are the God father and King of online shooters. They can go years between releases and still maintain healthy communities that rival most MMO's. When you truly are THE BEST, you don't need a yearly release to stay relevant.

Well I never been big on call of duty, and battlefield I will have to wait and see how that turns out.

So for me the choice is very simple, uncharted 3 is the only game I am waiting asides from infamous 2 and resistance 3.

Other this its all about the NGP for me.

Look the only reason most people bought Black Ops was because of all the hype from Modern Warefare 2, most people expected it to be just as good or better and it failed to deliver. Battlefield 3 could possible sell better, swing some votes from people who are tired of the same ol' game different name....While Battlefield 3 has its new frostbite engine, the graphics are sick and it's got peoples attention, even die hard Call of Duty fans. At least Battelfield 3 is innovating, changing, and pushing themselves to be better.

BF3 on the PC will be the best shooter this year. After Dice announced that the console version will be scaled down significantly it's worth it to invest in a gaming pc. Cod have always been designed around consoles so i expect it to look better than BF3.

Well BF3 is looking good, and the PC version is obviously gona be the best version due to player count... but the console version will still be very good, and I don't see one partially better game being a good reason to "invest" in a gaming PC for many people! lol

I think it is a fair assumption to say that most people who have a gaming PC will buy it on PC, and the people who don't will enjoy a quality game that is basically gona be the sequel to Bad Company 2 on console!

Basically everyone who likes the franchise should enjoy it, whether they are playing it on PC, or PS3, or 360.... who really cares???

COD will in all sense of the word annihilate BF3 with regards to sales. I won't be surprised if MW3 outscores BF3 as well. COD isnt no joke lads, you may have been disappointed and tired of Black Ops (regardless of the fact the game is awesome) however, note IW and there co developers aren't about to compromise, COD games deserve to sell this well because no other game has this level of value and content, on top of the fact they have created the most accessible game ever (bugs and glitches of Black Ops is another story). There is no war, its going to be a massacre!
