Nintendo wins exclusive deal for Capcom's Monster Hunter 3

Thomson Financial reports from Tokyo, Japan:

Nintendo on Wednesday won an exclusive deal in which Capcom will supply Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii exclusively. Monster Hunter 1 and 2 were PS2 exclusives and sold 4.5 million units globally.

"Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunster 3 title," Capcom managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii said.

In unveiling the exclusive deal, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said that his company is now "entering the third phase of its strategy, aimed at expanding the game player population."

"I understand that some experts argue that our success is short-lived and temporary. So, we now need to make efforts to constantly expand the player base by offering services and titles that can appeal not only to those who have never played games but also to those who play them hard," Iwata said.

Let the fall of gaming begin!
What was once going to be a super expansive world with top graphics and beautiful monsters, is now going to be relegated to a DVD sized game full of corner cutting and graphics that don't look all that much better than the PSP. Also, Waggle.

Looking better isn't synonymous w/ being better. And with the Wii's lower-res graphics, a Monster Hunter 3 world on Wii could actually be MORE expansive since the textures take up less space. I'm not saying it will be, just that it is a possibility. Don't let pessimism ruin the game for you.

oh my word. You guys have made me rather bitter these days past. No game is ruined by a platform. It's only ruined by the jerks who refuse to play it for they feel they are too important in the world.

You are making fun of DVD as well. Hey the 360 still uses DVD get over it.

You should thank MS and Sony for making their systems to costly to make games for instead of blaming Nintendo for having a lucrative product.
