Sorry, Wii all out

Nintendo says it's worried there won't be enough Wii game consoles to go around this holiday season. Analysts say the company may just be saying that to boost demand, but Jeremy Hobson reports that scarcity might actually give their competition a leg up.

don't care.

Haha im just kidding Wii's pretty good, just not for me as a hardcore gamer i guess. But yer a lot of casual gamers like small kids for instance will want and get this for christmas I reckon. But the more hardcore mature gamer would probably want a PS3, but you know exercise is always good, think I might just go get Wii Sports......or just go the gym.

What other reason would anyone have for talking about the Wii. They're hard to find. Everyone must really like the Wii. Oh no, I better go buy one now. Look at all the great games for the Wii. What great games?

And if they are scarce, why? It's not like the Wii has any parts that are really high tech and hard to find. This is just more Nintendo controlling the market by limiting the supply. Then it looks like the Wii is doing well.

I think retirement homes are buying all the Wiis though. I don't know any gamers with a Wii. Whenever I see the Wii on TV in some report they show old people playing bowling on the Wii. I guess that's Nintendo's market now.

"Analysts say the company may just be saying that to boost demand"

I'm going to agree with that. Ninty is a smart company and I'd say are trying to get people all riled up thinking "OMG I'd better get a Wii ASAP since there won't be any around for the holidays!!"

Well played Ninty, well played. :)

Actually, I don't think Nintendo even has to say anything because the fact that Wiis are still hard to find (at least here in the US) should be a clear indicator for consumers looking to get one for the holidays that they'd better grab one as soon as they see it starting now.

Oncnawan3394d ago

Wow, that one went right over your head. You even agreed with Razzy while trying to disagree with them. The point is not that Nintendo SAYS that you need to buy a Wii (although they are, see executive statements warning of potential shortages this season), but that, by constraining supply, they create an artificial shortage, which leads to thinking like yours, and I quote, "because the fact that Wiis are still hard to find (at least here in the US) should be a clear indicator for consumers looking to get one for the holidays that they'd better grab one as soon as they see it starting now." Congratulations, you swallowed the bait - hook, line and sinker.

Explain how I was "trying to disagree with them." I was simply stating an opinion based on what can be seen in stores, outside of any unproven artificial shortage theories. It's obvious to me what the purpose of an artificial shortage is so I don't need clarification.

I think you read too much into my post with no consideration to the fact that I may have been making a simple observation rather than a deep analysis of the supposed cause of the Wii shortage. At least it must have felt good for you to be condescending while having the opportunity to use a played-out fishing analogy.

Oncnawan3394d ago

I have re-read your post and concede that I misread your post. Even had I read it correctly, I was wrong to verbally abuse you. Your rebuke was 100% merited. I offer no excuses, only an apology. I am sorry for being condescending. I also apologize for subjecting you to a played-out fishing analogy, though I guess that reflects entirely on me and not on you.

This is my last bubble, so please accept what I have written here, as I cannot follow it up attempting to convince you of my sincerity. Once again, I apologize.

Seeing as Brawl is already #4 game in the US (2 months before its release, mind you) I think demand this season will be quite good.

BrotherNick3394d ago

I don't have to buy brawl (due to ingenuity), but I will cause I love the game so I'll purchase it.

ill help out nintendo and not buy a wii so they can have more stock.
