Shares in Sony Corp. fell more than 3 percent by early afternoon on Thursday after a Japanese brokerage cut its rating on the electronics maker and its shipment target for the upcoming PlayStation 3 game console.
Bigger than any screenshots from a PS3 fansite. It's one thing for your stock to go down but to have it downgraded, ouch. Not good for Sony. The PS3 can be the most incredible machine ever conceived but if the business model behind it is poor, it may fail.
it's been nice knowin ya sony!!!!DONT WORRY MS IS ERE NOW!!!!!!
The stock holders have ALL thought to themselves, YO!! when did we make that 3ft midget our president!?!?!?!WTF!?!?!?!
END OF THE LINE
And what I mean by that is that they're not infatuated with a product, they're looking at the business model. Being downgraded just prior to your release is probably not a good sign.
Specifically noting the difficulty Sony is having in getting certain components (deja vu, deja vu!.
Its sad to see that most Sony die-hard fans do not even understand what this means. If Sony shareholders are not happy but gamers are who do you think has more control. It is not the little kid gamers or grown @ss fan boys its shareholders. Because true traders understand the market better than 99% of this site. I do not want to look like I hate Sony I just cant believe that the majority market holders (Sony) is looking do bad right now. I ask people to look out side of what you love or are a fan of and see the real issue. It is nor the 360 although the 360 is the PS3 comp. It is the Sony execs that doing this. Shareholders want the money to work for them and Sony will have to use the shareholders investments to operate with success. If shareholder pull out Sony has to rely on profits but their profits are not matching the losses and this is not good. Can any one say "SEGA!!!”? The best thing that could happen in the next 3 years is more fan boys become shareholders. So all of you fan boys should take $45.00 and buy a share if you want this downward spiral to stop. Ask your parent 1st O.K. LOL
Now now, let's not get rash. I'm sure it's perfectly normal for share holders to s**t their pants three months before a console launch.
Shareholders are the backbone of companies like Sony. You my be thinking of situations where two company merge and shareholders sell to recoup. This is not the case hear.
Don't worry, I know. I was just taking the piss.
Sony didn't say anything. Mitsubishi has doubts that Sony can pull off the 1 million units a month schedule. But Mitsubishi doesn't make a single component of the PS3, so what do they know? It's just one company speculating about another.
And you know a thing or two about missleading dont you? But look it is still an acuate asumption and share holders are selling Sony is going through it DJ. I know its hard to se but it true.
Mitsubishi UFJ Securities is the Japanese Merril-Lynch, they just happen to be one of the Mitsubishi group's many holdings much like GM owns EMD Locomotive or GMAC Financial; that's why stocks dropped when they spoke.
they can still make batterys for dell smile
i may be a future PS3 supporter, but this news is a damn shame. shame on the Sony execs. the technology and the successful gaming history is there, but somebody in the Sony headquarters are doing something wrong.
Hey Joe , do me a favor and zip up that bodybag on the PS3 over there , ziippp , thanks.
Sony really , really needs some good news , it's almost Oct. I have literally stopped worrying about Sony as a serious competitor for the 360. All the news for the 360 is GOOD and all the news for Sony Sucks.
Don't worry Anerythristic26, you can hardly call this site un-biased. 80% 360/xbox fanboys
16% Sony fanboys, 1% Nintendo fanboys
2% genuine all-rounders.
Oh, and 1% goes to The Mart. He has poured his soul into this news site. All hail the Mart! lol
The only thing going bye bye is the 360 at #3. Sony will ship on the promise! I guarentee it! Nothing will affect the ship numbers of, The PlayStation 3! The future is almost here, with The PlayStation 3!
Apple recalling Sony batteries...stock sliding another 3 points....battery recall to cost Sony approx. $150 million.
