Homefront Sales: Xbox 70%, PS3 26%

Nearly three-quarters of UK opening-weekend Homefront sales were made on Xbox 360.

A titanic 70 per cent of copies were sold for Xbox 360, leaving 26 per cent for PS3 and four per cent for PC, according to Chart-Track (a company that doesn't include sales for digital services like Steam).

Killzone 3's to blame, or compliment? for this.

X_GAMER_X2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

And how much did killzone 3 sell in UK?

Beside, How much userbase there is in UK?

Killzone 3 to blame? I think Not

@Hasj1990

And what dos this have to do with what I'v said?
How much userbase there is in UK and how little killzoen 3 sold there then you will understand my point.( Get you'r calcultor , Adds, subtracts, multiply) simple

As for that link. Only time will tell Bro.Just because EA have said it dos not mean it will come true.

DontShoot-Me-Bro2376d ago

EA's European senior VP Jens Uwe Intat said in september 2010...

"We could certainly see Sony come back – in the UK it’s still a head-to-head competition between PlayStation and Xbox, but on the continent Sony is traditionally stronger than Microsoft."

ksense2376d ago

well ps3 gamers have exclusives to save for so mediocre games like homefront aren't going to sell.

Biggest2376d ago

I think we're seeing why so many developers drop support for their games as quickly as they do. Why support a game if the community is going to jump at the next new thing every time? Homefront isn't even that good a game and some people snatched it up right away.

b163o12376d ago

You've obviously haven't played Killzone3 O.o

antz11042376d ago

Lol @ ksense,

I understand the "exclusives" defense for alot of topics like "why the ps3 is better" or "ps3 game library quality".

But to use it here? Thats a stretch man.

sikbeta2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

2 things

1· The PS Crew is not heavily into FPS games :P COD being the exception XP

2· We have tight wallets XD

Edit:

@no_more_

Come on guy, don't take the interwebz too serious pal :P

no_more_trolling2376d ago

the ps crew?

i thought ps and xbox 360 owners were just regular people

i didnt know ur "crew" got together and decided on a budget

r1sh122376d ago

@hasJ
T3 never get numbers right.
E.g they thought a headunit for cars Kenwood DNX7200 was £10,000.
The fact is the xbox attracts FPS and action addicts, xbox live is good.
I think on the PS3 there are many other games people would be playing, FN champion, Killzone GT5....
the xbox has had a quiet year so far...

aquamala2376d ago

After the latest patch I still have connection problems and crashes. I can't remember ever getting into a game on 32 player ground control mode. black ops all over again. If you have both consoles don't get it on ps3 !

Drac2376d ago

I think you need to look at total sales for the UK this year, not just one game.

If there's 4 really good games for 1 system and 1 for another then when a new multi-plat comes out you'd expect it to have bigger sales on the system with less games for the year.

Headquarters112376d ago

WOOT Huge price drop soon hopefully.

Pixelated_Army2375d ago (Edited 2375d ago )

Sorry but there are a shit ton more games coming out on the PS3 and I can't afford to buy these little multiplats I need to same mah monies for the better games.

So far it's Crysis 2, Motostorm and SOCOM 4. Whoo! :D Exclusives and multiplats FTW!

Homefront Sales: Xbox 70%, PS3 26% - Don't forget the most important stat, which is the %50 return rate once everybody realize this game is crap.

juggulator2376d ago

Well it's partially to do with KZ3. Because of games like it, PS3 owners don't fall for 'shooter bait' so easily. Plus the single player is short and underwhelming and the mulitplayer is decent. I only own a PS3 and I'm willing to bet that like me, most PS3 owners are avoiding it because of the poor single player campaign.

avengers19782376d ago

As a gamer homefront went by the way side for me because I'm currently Playing ME 2 for the PS3, dead space 2, BulletStorm, STFU 2, Lost Planet 2, and KZ3... Plus soon Infamous 2, will be coming out soon, and if I get the chance to Lord of Shadows.... Just way to many games to play

Impaler2376d ago

@avengers1978

You hit the nail on the head my friend. Mass Effect 2 just came out for us PS3 users, Killzone 3 also just came out and for a good portion of people I am sure, SOCOM 4 beta starts next week and it comes out next month. We have a lot to play already so this article isn't to shocking.

I'm not stating that one console is better than the other here, I am merely saying that the PS3 just had 3 big games come out in the last two months or us and I'm sure some people are waiting for Crysis 2 and SOCOM 4 as well. So this explains the gap between consoles on sales.

TheDivine2376d ago

You cant use the short campain crud against homefront and pretend kz3 has a longer campain. They are both 5 hr campains with the main focus multiplayer. I think shooters are just more fun on 360 and play better. Homefront is a good game also, dont understand the hate.

Jaces2376d ago

That and most are probably waiting for the price to go down, which it will...considerably. :)

Rageaholic2376d ago

There is nothing really coming out the xbox hence the reason for the higher sales

frostypants2376d ago

Why are so many 360 owners buying such a horrible game?

JOLLY12376d ago

I just wanna say...UK =/= the world!

Megaton2376d ago

Could have something to do with Killzone 3. Could also have something to do with exclusively being advertised for 360 with mention of exclusive maps.

Anon19742376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

We've been over this before, haven't we? In the UK there are roughly 6 million 360's to 4 million PS3's. If a game is selling equally well on each system we should see the sales split roughly 60-40, and that's basically what we're seeing here, not withstanding that I don't actually know how accurate Chart-Track is in the UK.

Of course the 360 version sold more in the UK. The 360 has a larger base in the UK. This is no more newsworthy or troubling than pointing out that more PS3 games are sold in Japan. I don't know why Eurogamer is always trying to make a story out of this.

Also, these types of games tend to do better on the 360. Just look at Mercenaries 2. Similar review scores as Homefront and 360 fans ate it up while PS3 fans largely ignored the title. Meanwhile games like FIFA do much better on the PS3. It also depends on what genre we're talking about, and what the competition looks like. I really can't see many shooter fans picking up Homefront when KZ3 was just released, for example.

A titanic 70 per cent of copies were sold for Xbox 360, leaving 26 per cent for PS3 and four per cent for PC,

wow I can't believe the PC was even that high.

BeastlyRig2375d ago

not really it sold less than the last!!

DontShoot-Me-Bro2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

WOW

I knew Homefront on 360 would outsell the PS3 version but by that much is suprising.

I guess Killzone 3, Crysis 2, and Socom 4 next month is enough shooters for a person who only owns a PS3.

But if you do own both consoles, I would assume most people would have bought it for 360 anyway because of the community.

DelbertGrady2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

Homefront 2 360 exclusive? :)

@DavidMacDougall - Yes. I also think the factors such as most gamers on Xbox Live have headsets and that the controller is better suited for FPS games are playing into the sales.

DavidMacDougall2376d ago

Lets hope so, it'd be nice if they had atleast 1 exclusive next year that ain't a kids game.

Commodore2376d ago

Let em have it...Every time it goes exclusive it ends up being shit for the 360 (in terms of THQ games).

THQ doesn't have a good track record. This game was average, Frontline was a multi-platform and then went 360 exclusive and ended up sucking. Metro 2033 (same studio, same thing)...Ended up sucking.

Elven62376d ago

Wtf?

Firstly, Frontlines wasn't exclusive nor was there ever a sequel. The developer has only made two games with Homefront being their second title.

Secondly, Metro 2033 is a PC/360 game by a different developer. The game is a beast on PC but was poorly ported to the 360.

Commodore2376d ago

THQ being the publisher...and when did I say Frontlines had a sequel. You know what I mean when I say exclusive so quit trying to act stupid.

THQ doesn't do a good job at picking talent.

radphil2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

Metro 2033 was nice, and it wasn't the same devs.

Get your facts straight before you start mouthing off.

Also check the PC platform, THQ published Warhammer 40k:Dawn of War series.

Dread2376d ago

metro did not suck
u obviously did not play the game.

Elven62376d ago

When you say,

"This game was average, Frontline was a multi-platform and then went 360 exclusive and ended up sucking."

It implies a sequel is present somewhere in what you are trying to say.

Play Company of Heroes, Red Faction, UFC, etc for good THQ titles.

Ducky2375d ago (Edited 2375d ago )

"Metro 2033 (same studio, same thing)"

Looks like you know what you're talking about. /s

You do realize that you just bitch slapped your own credibility there, right?

Commodore2375d ago (Edited 2375d ago )

Damn, everyone calm down here. Take out the word studio and put in publisher....

THQ used to be good when it came to designing and publishing. And a 6.9 for Metro 2033 on IGN aint passing. I've seen it and dabbled with it, not good.

MrBeatdown2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

Sounds about right.

Homefront is the lowest rated shooter so far this year, on a system that has no exclusives until September. It doesn't really sound like the best choice.

sparced2375d ago

Frontline Fuel of War, that's all I needed to know six months ago. You can spot mediocrity a mile off. It's not difficult to predict it anymore. Brink, Bulletstorm, Homefront. It was always going to finish in third.

Stealth20k2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

because ps3 users have options other than generic multiplat shooters hell yakuza 4/ar tonelico III got better reviews and are just better games......different genres. Fancy that

guigsy2376d ago

And yet Homefront is still the top selling PS3 games this week. Yakuza 4 is at 6 (25 in all format) and Ar Tonelico isn't out yet in the UK. Fancy that.

P_Bomb2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

You do realise Yakuza 4 has already sold 600,000 units in Japan alone, right?

Once the first wave of buyers' remorse sets in, Homefront's dead in the water. Crysis 2 tomorrow doesn't help either.

NiKK_4192376d ago

I hate when people say that...it's the highest selling game of the week...umm, could that be because it's its launch week? What do you expect
