Face Raiders would have been a superb release on the 3DSWare eShop store, yet Nintendo has decided to include this fantastic piece of software completely free of charge with every Nintendo 3DS unit. Making great use of the internal and external cameras, as well as containing some extremely clever use of the real world for the game’s enjoyable missions, Face Raiders is a massive success on every front.
Nintendo 3DS is the first major gaming handheld to include augmented reality functionality. But is its implementation quite what it needs to be? Or do its limitations hold it back?
GI:
Augmented reality is the next big step taking us away from the harsh truths of reality. Instead of escaping into an entirely separate world, as we have been doing in video games for decades, augmented reality lets us merge virtual and real worlds together into something that has yet to prove itself as being particularly fun.
I like the idea but I want to see what a company like Sony Santa Monica could do with the tech.
"It has been a while 3DS music fans! Don’t worry, this section is still alive and kicking, but this soundtrack was a hard one to figure out. We managed to get it done and are proud to give you a soundtrack for the built-in game Face Raiders. We hope you enjoy these songs!" -- Wiiloveit.com
