Yes, PSP did it for a third week, although it's sales are less than half of what they were last week. DS is holding strong at the 70k level and Wii has been hovering around the 25k.
Round Peg, the link you provided does not exist.
would be interesting if the sales can hold above the 70k mark.
i will be getting a PSP someday just because of the PS3+PSP cross funtions. Man if the PSP takes over the handheld market i would be in awe...they do have some dam good games coming out for it.
I really dont see that happening.. DS just broke 50 million
It won't happen. Although if it did, it would be better for me. I want more hardcore handheld games (Story driven adventure/action titles). If the PSP (or PSP2) would ever take the lead, maybe we'd stop seeing damn Horsez, and Dogz, and Catz, and Brain Training, and DS cookbooks, and DS ENGLISH TEACHER, and DS WINE MAKING kit, etc, etc, etc, etc.
No disrespect to the DS, it has some good games, but this casual thing has got to effing stop...
Well hell with a new version and a bunch of killer games coming out finally it should be selling like crazy.
Not really. It's quite expensive, if you ask me. However, I'm still getting one.
Well arent things starting 2 turn around for a supposedly dying system....btw I dont see the PSP over taking the DS..NEVER...Nintendo rulez the handheld market and thats how it's gonna stay ..!!
I really dont see PSP being on top for another week. the drop in sales was dramatic from last week to this week. Unless there is another Final Fantasy came next week heheh
but it's nice to see that sony is able to take some of the marketshare away from Nintendo, seeing as this is their first portable console.
Its also nice to see nintendo retake the console market away from sony :P
Considering Nintendo is the unidisputed king of handheld marketshare, Sony managing to take 33% of it is in no means whatsoever: A failure or a flop.
I won't declare it a success, or a win, but it was a valient effort.
Edit @ cooke: You won't be when you start seeing a bunch of PS2era graphic casual titles flooding the market. I'm rooting for PS360. Wii is perpetuating the downfall of my favorite and most passionate hobby. Nintendo's games just aren't plot driven anymore to the point where they exhume a beauty and grace seen in other games on other consoles. tell me the Nintendo equivalent to God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, or a story as colluded and twisting as Metal Gear? I'd love to hear about them. I'm sorry, I am outspokenly anti-nintendo, but it's the truth, the success of the Wii is probably the reason I'll switch back to PC gaming.
Actually im completely ignoring those titles. Wii haters like to focus on them because they feel it matters some how. Wii is like PC, its cheap to develop for so there is a lot of shovelware. But does that mean you have to buy it? No not at all. I have a list of 20 or so games im looking to buy for Wii and none of which are shovelware or ps2 era graphics.
1) Mario Galaxy
2) Super Smash Bros Brawl
3) Manhunt 2
4) Medal of Honor 2 Heroes
6) Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
7) King Story
8) Disaster Day of Crisis
9) Zack & Wiki
10) Trauma Center: new Blood
11) Vanillaware Project
12) No More Heroes
13) Geometry Wars: Galaxies
14) Battalion Wars 2
15) Tales of Symphonia 2
16) The Mushroom Men
17) Forever Blue
18) Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
19) Mario Kart
21) Monster Lab
23) Guitar Hero 3
25) Starwars Unleashed (for the wiimote action)
26) Fatal Frame
Edit* no i wont.. but ill be buying these games for 10 or so dollars less each ;) and more Wii games run at 60fps because of lower res which matters to me more than higher resolutions.
That's fine, and I wouldn't be as ignorant to diss your tastes.
I respect your taste in video games, and you have a perogative over what you choose to play.
However: I'm dead curious: 20 titles.
Edit: lmfao, nice list..............But you still won't see those games in 720/1080p!!!!
j/k :P graphics don't make a game. But not to downplay graphics: in my opinion, they play a large part in how the story elements can be told. However, you can properly rebut that by stating art direction takes precedence over all.
I'll also try to bubble you up so you can answer :P.
We aren't having an arguement, you pose for interesting conversation, my hats off to you.
"Wii is like PC, its cheap to develop for so there is a lot of shovelware. But does that mean you have to buy it? No not at all. I have a list of 20 or so games im looking to buy for Wii and none of which are shovelware or ps2 era graphics."
People forget that Shovelware was abundant especially on the ps1, and, to a lesser extent, the ps2. That was part of what killed the n64 (aside from cartidges), Nintendo was way too stringent to allow a large library to develop. Lots of games, even crap games, meant the PS brand had a core base of solid games and won the war.
why do you all get so technical about this stuff? does it really matter as long as we get games?
You know? Before all this sh*t, there was a time when absolutely no one cared.
I admit, it's gotten abt disgusting, but for the enthusiasts and hobbyists, it makes for decent conversation.
I love video games, and I love the video game industry, therfore: I'll chat about it on the superficial level, and on a level that goes way depper into the industry.
I can't believe 2 identical Pokemons are among top 10 but glad to see Xbox 360 sales rise in Japan as well as PSP remaining above 100k.
but i think the psp will give better looking big name games. Its like a handheld ps2
There is a chance the PSP can take over DS. You can't rule out a sony system from winning a generation based on there previous success. For PSP to even get close to DS's market share, that along would be a success becuase PSP is the first big handheld Sony system. PSP is looking to sell over 100 million and the DS is also poised to sell pass that but it won't be 200 million. If Xbox 1 was able to sell 70 million and the PS2 sold 90 million then that would have been a success for the xbox, so it's no different for the PSP.
I always wanted to buy a PSP. Hopefully i'll get one soon. I mean it'll serve me as a mp3/movie player beside gaming. And looks damn COOL.
DS is also getting a slew of real games. They even have Square Enix making a heck of a lot of games for DS. The NDS is basically becoming the new RPG holder. Has the golden 2D monsters coming out for it Metal Slug and Contra. It's getting survival horror games already has yet another version of Res 1 and it's getting Dementium: The Ward which is like Silent Hill. Has the hack and slash Ninja Gaiden coming. Along with FFXII, FFCC, and the most important DQ IX which will sell not only a crazy amount of software it'll sell a crazy amount of units. DS is a must for hardcore players if you can't admit that then you might want to recheck your hardcore status.
edit: oh yea and grats to PSP for still selling I can't wait to play Crisis Core cuz Hot Shots Golf is getting a bit boring to play it's still the most played game on it.
