Jade Raymond said that Ubisoft has been pushing play tests for the past few months and the average length has been around 18 hours by just doing the core missions and over 40 hours if you decide to do some exploring.
Hooray! One of the things that irritates me the most is having to pay $60 for a game, and then beat it in 1 or 2 days.
Maybe if you have multiple games or only play it two hours a day, games would last longer. I'm still "finishing the fight". Read a book, watch a movie, there's lots of things to do to spread out the gaming.
I am REALLY on the fence with this one, leaning more towards not buying this game. A demo could have made me decide to buy this game, so really disappointed that there wont be a demo.
Believe me buddy, I do far more than just sit and play video games all day, but when I get a game, I want to finish it as soon as possible.
I was thinking of waiting for reviews, but 40+ hours, looks like they put some serious effort into it, it will be a good purchase.
i cant wait for this game........looks very promising
Pft! Who gives a rat's @$%#. This game (and Mass Effect- not that it has anything to do with this thred) are my most anticipated. Oh, and COD4. Oh, and Ace combat... I'll stop.
Army of Two, Kane and Lynch, just to name a few more.
These figures are always exaggerated.
Well, there is really no way to say exactly how long it will take someone to complete a game. However, they are usually pretty close to it. Even if many fall short, some exceed the amount of predicted time (they said around 100 hours for Oblivion, but I've gone way over).
Dr Pepper has a good point. I played GTA:SA more than 80 hours and it does not count the replay. I spent more than 200 hours on one run of Final Fantasy or Morrowind. And even when played only to finish the game quickly, the times are still different. Look at Halo 3 reviews. One reviewer and site calls the singleplayer a 6-8 hour affait while other one says it lasts for 15 hours. Even if 40 is exaggerated, it won't be less than 20 which is a great deal and we know the game is kinda open world so...
Longer than what I thought it would be.
Well even if exagerated I hope to get 15 hours out of it and some good replay. Rock on. This game will own all.
Probably exagerrated figures but shouldn't be off by that much. Unless they pull a Xenosaga Episode 1 "over 80 hours of gameplay" when you play the stupid card game stunt.
there are too many games i want more. and i need to see more on this. demos i've seen played at E3 looked like game could get repetitive. ratchet, uncharted, COD4, haze,UT all between nov and end of year. my plate is full. i might rent or buy a cheap used copy.
yeah dude...there are a lot of games that i want that are coming out but im going to have to just pick a few or ill be broke and cant buy ramen lol
it's 40 hours on non-stop action. I hate cut scenes and dialog.
it theoretically is a sandbox game, so shouldn't it be unlimited? and yeah, gameplay times are always exaggerated. heavenly sword said 20 hours, xenosaga said 80 hours... the only true to estimate i've played was FFX, which said 40 hours, and it took me that long to do the core mission. then i spent another 50 getting the best stuff. then the holiday 02 viewful joe demo decided to erase everything.
i think there are still too many questions about this game right now...there isn't any new info on the game besides that average, buggy showcase demo...
would be really good for this type of game. Games ( in general) nowadays are a little short. Oblibion is an exeption everybody knows, but games like Halo 3, Heavenly Sword, The Darkness are some exmamples. Only Bioshock offered me with more than 15 hours of gameplay. I know that there are others things to do, but $68 (with tax) is just too much just for 5 hours of gameplay ( sorry Heavenly Sword, even if I believe is underated). I only hope that Assasins Creed dont end being a Prince of Persia rip off. I get tired of the Prince after the first game. I hope this game brings innovation to the genre. FANATICS...
And I will that much out of Halo3. Now Bio only has single player so that is valid. Multiplayer adds replay value.
WOOOOOW. They have to give this game a 10/10 (Unless there are serious problems and bugs or the reviewers are really biased) because the amazing BioShock was much less than 20 hours and Halo 3 was only 8 on singleplayer front.
i predict a few 9's but an overall average in the low 8's. it just seems like reviewers have been overly-picky towards this game through its various stages of sneak peeks. example: the repetitive woman with a jar in the crowds.
"...Halo 3 was only 8 (hours) on singleplayer front." TRY AGAIN. I guess u could put it on "easy" & skip every cutscene & get it under 9 hours... but that's not how I play games. LEGENDARY will take you at least 12 hours minimum. But then their are Skulls to find & Metagames to beat.... HALO 3's "singleplayer" is easily over 20 hours for real gamers. And frankly, the Multiplayer is UNLIMITED. I loved Bioshock, but HALO 3's "singleplayer" offers alot more replayability & a ton of fun with 4 player co-op, Skulls, & Meta games.... much less the outstanding multiplayer, custom games, & Bungie's Theater. Just like Assassin's Creed will ONLY approach 40 hours if you do EVERYTHING.
Very welcome news. Even great games like BioShock and Halo 3 come in under 15 hours or so; if the gameplay is solid, then Assassin's Creed will be an involved experience, likely on the scale of a good RPG. Can't wait.
this is Ubisoft after all...
40 hours = doing all the extra side missions. THEY ARE NOT MANDATORY TO FINISH THE GAME. Sort of like GTA. There is tons of gameplay if you dont just follow missions/story.
Seriously this game will be great..
game of the year?? looking forward to see what reviewers give it. been waiting for this game for a while... sounding better every time. Hopefully the story line is good
a length of a game is not the reason why i buy it, i look for something new, something with quality and substance! id rather have 8 hours of bliss than 40 hours of mundain repertivity. hope fully AC live up to the hype and provides us with 40 of bliss!!
...the average male player will spend 10 outta those 40 hours looking up Jade related p0rn and flirty interviews, which is also considered as "gameplay". Now thats what I can thinking outta the box.
do me i love the 40 hours of AC i cant stop cumming it feels so good =0
40+ hours indicates that the game might be a lot less linear that I feared. Lets hope it is not 40 hours of the same old, same old. If you can run around and do what the hell you like such as pick on guards, start fights, memorise patrol patterns, learn your way around your environment freely without time limits (outside of set missions) then this would be brilliant. One of the things I loved about the GTA franchise is that you can run around and find interesting ways to die. I would love to find the Creed equivalent of driving a flaming car into a FBI roadblock and taking them out with me. Give me a cart full of straw, a hill, a lantern, some oil and a guard patrol. I will give it a go. Squeak! Squeak! Squeak! Rattle! Squeak! Squeak! CRASH! WOOOF! *Sounds of guards screaming* :o)
