A music game you can play with any REAL guitar

"Imagine picking up that Stratocaster of yours and plugging it directly into your Xbox or PS3, now wouldn’t that be something? Well Ubisoft has announced a revolutionary music game, Rocksmith, that lets you do just that; sorry, no more plastic guitars kiddos."

Well, when I play Guitar Hero or RockBand I know that it's not a real guitar... The reason I like playing it, is partly because of the music and because of the simplicity (trying to hit the nodes). Heck I even had fun playing the demo of Parappa the rapper on ps2

It seems to me that most of those who are annoyed by the games GH or RB or similar games, are people who somehow feel threatened by the games.

So this sounds cool, but may target another audience compared to the Gh/RB guys. /imo

Some people don't actually want to toy around with a plastic guitar, in case you haven't noticed. Some want the real thing. Combining these two is actually a pretty good idea.

Think of the musicians who just want to have a good time playing a real guitar or just to try out Rocksmith, or vice versa...people new to playing the guitar and are looking for a fun way to learn.

I have a guitar that I occasionally play so this would be interesting to see how Rocksmith plays out.

If there's some good metal on there it might be the first music game I've bought since the first guitar hero.

If this actually works, I can see Bobby & Cotic Co. suing Ubisoft for some crazy copyright infringements Like:

"Copied our ideas"
"Failed to force customers to buy our plastic guitar by giving them the horrible thing: choice"

If this helps more people get into playing, and teaches in an intuitive way, then i'm all for it.

Won't be buying it myself though lol.

sounds interesting, but from a technical standpoint it cant really work better than Rock Band 3 with the Pro Guitar or the real guitar that was recently released. its just not technically possible, since RB3 directly reads the input from the real guitar via sensors in the fretboard. this game doesnt, because no guitars have those sensors.

I hope this encourages people to play real instruments like Jimmy Page wanted. But I'm guessing only intermediate level or higher guitarist will get this, I mean ive been playing guitar for 5 years now and it's not something you can just pick up and master in a week. This game will defiantly target people who already are experienced with guitars.

I sort of disagree actually, I think it's the other way around. I mean, why would an experienced guitarist play this game when they can just jam with their band or chuck a cd on, learn it by ear, and play along to that if that's what they're into?

I think this COULD be a great tool for beginning guitarists who are struggling to learn in the more traditional way, and who would maybe benefit from a more fun, intuitive approach to learning.

Will just have to wait and see I guess.
