Homefront: Kaos Studios' Tae Kim Addresses "Yellow Peril" Controversy

G4: "Homefront seemed the culmination of our worst fears as Asian Americans: A first person shooter game where civic duty was fulfilled by shooting at a parade of enemy Asians--in other words, faces that look just like us. We could live with battling the Imperial Japanese army in Call of Duty: World at War since it was within a historical context..."

The story is too old to be commented.

It's a game of Nationalistic Ideals and Government Regimes, not a Race War. If you're going to go with the context argument at least understand the f_cking context that the issues you are having with this are written in.

I don't think creating a game that uses real people is a good idea. Saying that the dictator (Kim Jong Ill) of one of the most intimidating and ruthless superpowers in the world is dead, and that his son (Kim Jong Un) is a tyrant that immediately wages war on the US... probably not smart.

I know its just a video game, but painting these real people in a negative light could push some buttons. I personally am worried about North Korea, and there is alot of tension between our government and theirs.

I mostly don't agree with incorporating Kim Jong Ill and Kim Jong Un into the story. If it was just North Korea vs. US fine, but when you start using specifics it makes me a little uneasy.

there was a timeline... things didn't "immediately" happen...

hence the opening sequence....

painting them in real could be negative??? why I suppose that could be argued in some sense... but whats the point the characters in real life are "Negative"... and they are considered our "Enemy"...

I served my 1st year in the United States Army in South Korea... so I kinda think I know a little about the country...

Like for example... To us... Americans and it's Allies the tragedy in Japan is exactly that a Tragedy!!! But, I know for a fact North Korea sees the earthquake as a Victory.... because Japan is an "Enemy".... that's how they think man as a culture... not a race thing at all, I mean there could be racial undertones... But it's more about oppression for the North Koreans....

with the way the world has been going... Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Volcanoes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Radiation, Oil Spills, Wars, Poverty, Hunger, Hatred.....

NK is just waiting for the moment... Believe me, China aswell.. Any country for that matter... Because at this time in history and I'm talking globally anything can happen.

When shit hits the fan, shit will hit the fan...

The racism (which isn't there - no token jar jar bink types of asian stereotypes just stock bad guys that just happen to be asian) are the least of this pos's problems. This world is so sensitive.....i'm progressive minded but liberalism can be so obnoxious sometimes.

Will people grow up, I'm black and I didn't bitch when RE5 had their game made; it's part of the setting and story. No one forces you to play anything - you play because you want to not because you have to. If your offended, don't play, and don't try to be an attention whore, simple as that.
