UK PlayStation boss says firm will continue to take gambles
Excellent news, I really enjoyed heavy rain. It's good to get away from the bang-bang, punch-jump-kick banality every now and then. I'm looking forward to games like Journey almost as much as the big blockbuster titles coming this year.
Excellent news indeed, I'm never tired of the bang-bang XD but I love the variety of games in the PS3.
Titles like Flower, Heavy Rain and the upcoming last guardian are the reason i bought a ps3, it's nice to see these off beat projects getting more support, I certainly consider them to be a richer experience.
i wonder if sony will work with quantic dream again?.
. There's previously some rumors about David Cage's (Quantic Dream) next project would be on PS3 also. However, we still don't know if it's still exclusive / multi-platform this time... We'll just have to wait a bit more.
hopefully they do. Quantic Dream knows there is a market for these types of games on the PS3 side of things. Keep in Mind, Heavy Rain sold around 2million copies, thats big for such a game that, in my opinion, was awesome. im pretty sure Quantic Dream never had a game that was so successful as HR. Dont know if the Xbox crowd would be such games considering its not a shooter.
good HR was such an immersive game
that's good news for all of us.
its games like this that defines th ps3... high quality games and wide genres.....
Interactive qucktime movies? That's what defines the PS3? Well it is great at playing movies, I can't argue that. Shoot the thing can even get on the internet, got to give it credit there too. Games? Unless they're developed by 1st party, have 5 year development cycles and backed by millions and millions of Sony's money it's just not that good.Other wise you get poor frame rates, torn frames, 5 gig "mandatory" installs, dialed back ambient occlusion(if any at all),dialed back or missing, shadows, dialed back or missing anti-aliasing. It's just the facts. I know you wish it was different but the record speaks for itself. Heck even some of the 1st party stuff isn't that great.
Run away Simba... Run away, and never return.
get a life
Yeah, screw Sony for investing in their own product, I wish they'd spend $500m advertising peripherals instead of making games. The bastards.
if you had played heavy rain , you'd knew. troll often say that Heavy rain or MGS4 are " interractives movies" when the fact is that there is way more than just that . about trying the games instead of just spouting the nonsense you were feed by the trolls ?
paintsville, so you don't like games developed by 1st parties over painstaking development cycles and lots of budget? Are you saying you like crappy, under-developed games?!
The game itself was a little slow at the beginning, but as I told friends with ADD to stick with it, they were also floored by the immersion and genuine feeling of emotion. People complain about this just being a series of quick time events, but as I and others found out that being able to play a part in a movie has become a total blast. Looking forward to more unique and original games such as this.
i hope david cage realise that it's pointless to make next project for x360 also if we know how crappy alan wake sell.
Thats the difference between Sony and Microsoft. Sony are willing to take risks and grow the CORE market. Microsoft only want to grow the casual market. Microsoft turned down heavy rain when david cage approached them. They showed no interest in a non shooter/racer.
To be honest it is just about each companies priorities and ethos. Obviously their top priorities is to make as much money as possible.... that's why it's called a business! But microsoft is more about getting their product in every home and doing well in a few areas (online gaming with FPS, driving games ect). Sony tends to spread their time amongst more genres and more services and tries to push gaming further on. And if you think about it.... the 3 big companies all bring a different advantage to gamers. Sony really pushed gaming forward with the PSone, and PS2. And is now continuing to to push and improve all genres. And takes chances on new and different types of games. Microsoft brought and massively improved online gaming on consoles with Live on the original Xbox. It also gave a shot in the arm to FPS with Halo (whether or not you like that game). And with the 360 it tries to perfect those few big money making genres. It is not a problem that they don't innovate as they take what someone else has done and try to improve it.... as long as they are not the driving force behind gaming then that is not a problem. Nintendo pushes the casual gaming market along which brings in new paying customers who will likely graduate to new and harder drugs.... I mean core games. They also take chances and innovate with things like Motion control and analogue sticks which get taken and improved by the other companies which implement them alot better for core gamers. To be honest.... if any one of those 3 companies stopped doing what they do.... gaming would be alot worse off for it! They each add something in their own way whether they plan to or not.
That's great. Like the Sony attitude. Sure they're all about the benjamins, but they always show a lotta love for their business. Not a second have I regretted switching from 360 to ps3 a three months ago.
Me 2 i always loved the PS brand. But i had a 360 before a PS3 because of the price. Once the PS3 slim came out i chucked my 360 at game and bought Myself a PS3 with 10 excellent titles. Been extremely happy ever since because the games that i enjoy the most are on Sonys console. I enjoy the way that the japanese do their buisness.
Same here. Before this gen I had PS1 and PS2, but the price for PS3 was a bit too much imo. Since I got the PS3 however, been playing exclusives non stop that I'm I don't have to miss out on.
SONY ftw!! they always tryin out new stuff,wc is good considering the industry is nw full of bullcrap shooters.they myt hv the hardhitting shooters but they sure hv variety on their platform
I've put off the idea of getting Heavy Rain since its release. I'm just not sure what to make of it since it's obviously such a unique property and largely unlike any other gaming title I have ever played or currently own. But I feel a tad-bit more compelled to pick it up after seeing the video linked below. Also, since enough people are commenting on the subject of Sony and MS... 360 > PS3 IMO ;p
If you do play Heavy Rain.... play it with Move if you can!
Which is why i love the playstation brand so much. They are willing to take risks on unique concepts such as Little Big Planet for example. Without Sony we would be stuck with the same old franchises that we had years ago.
Unless you're a PC gamer of course :P Is great news though.
I'd argue that the PS3's breadth of game styles is beyond even the PC's these days.
Lol, I missed the sarcasm indicator there.
Why? What is PC doing that's so outlandish these days?
This is the mentality the industry needs, really.
Best news all day.
looking forward to Quantic Dream next project let it be a PS3 exclusive
