Opinion: Sequels, Spin-offs and Remakes

An editorial calling for greater investment in original IPs and a more sustainable approach to ongoing franchises. (3DS, Darksiders 2, Dead Rising 2, Dead Space 2, Nintendo DS, PC, PS Vita, PS3, PSP, Ridge Racer 3D, Super Monkey Ball, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 3D, Wii, Xbox 360)

I normally dont like remakes, but if its from console to handheld then I love it. I cant wait to take amazing console games on the go

I've got no issues with sequels as long as the games are still of a high quality (Killzone, Gears, Ratchet, Mario, Uncharted etc) and not ran into the ground through lack of improvements (COD, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawks,).

As for remakes, i'd kill for Zoe 1 & 2, Metal Gear 1, 2 & 3, Ratchet & Clanks, Star wars battlefront 1 & 2 & all the gta games from PS2.

Well said. It’s pretty telling that the three franchises you criticised have all been victims of 'annualisation’.
