You’re all planning to import the twice-banned Mortal Kombat. Pro-tip: don’t. “Fight!” indeed, but more like “Fatality!” if you get nabbed by Australian customs
After Mortal Kombat was initially refused classification in Australia, we were all very excited when Warner Bros. announced that they were submitting an identical version on appeal. The Classification Review Board met on Friday to review their ruling on the game, and the result has come in only minutes ago: the refused classification stands. Mortal Kombat will not be sold in Australia. The official statement from Warner Bros. reads as follows:
We’re obviously extremely disappointed that the refused classification decision has been upheld by the Classification Review Board. We want to thank the thousands of Mortal Kombat fans in Australia and around the world who have voiced their support during the appeal process.
We'll bring you any more news as we receive it. In the meantime, if you find yourself enraged by this outcome, please use your energy constructively to write to your Attorney-General and urge them to help.
