Yes, it has been popular since the very beginning, but I still had to pay a lot of money to import games and various merchandise from Japan. Despite the craze among kids, it wasn’t entirely mainstream. Of course, as we all know, it is now about as mainstream as Mario and bread. It’s so mainstream that half of the characters—of which there are many—are household names and people take the series for granted. But not me. Oh no, I still appreciate all of my little monsters with a childlike wonder. I did have to go through a dark period, however…"
