Did the 3DS need better graphics?

MMGN: The 3DS is powerful. Closer to the Wii than many of us might think. However, the impressive technology isn’t translated into stunning visuals. It’s used to power the unique 3D effects and secondary screen. That leaves that actual graphics somewhere between the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube. Did Nintendo need to do more?

The story is too old to be commented.

Well, you can't call your console a "next-gen" if every features weren't upped a bit. Otherwise, it'd still be a regular DS with 3D effect.

"That leaves that actual graphics somewhere between the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube"
resident evil disagrees ALLOT

the 3DS has some very nice looking graphics but in the end it just matters how the devs use it
take ubisoft for example they aren't using squat while capcom actually are

Yea, those Resident Evil games look like 360 titles at first glance.

Capcom also said that they had a version of RE5 running on the 3DS, which I highly doubt the Gamecube could do.

That is beucause of the resolution it´s scrammed into, it is not anything near 360 or ps3, but for what the resolution offer, posses good details.

But facts fact 3DS not being that powerful (it doesn´t need to though).

CPU wise it is stil a couple of digit behind psp, furthemore, for what nintendo is known to offer, it is enough of hardware on a portable to fill up gaming appetite.

Question though, until when? give it a couple of year til nintendo upgrade the hardware again.

They have Conduit 2 levels running on the 3DS. How is that 'Not quite Game Cube'? According to them, it's a Wii and then some graphically speaking. I agree with the part of the article about wanting Wind Waker in 3D though. I hope it happens. The hardware is plenty capable.

According to who? the dev? lol

Isn´t that what we call hype?

TruthbeTold2348d ago

All I have to say is Conduit 2 aside, if you think that the Game Cube can do graphically what Capcom is doing with RE: Mercenaries, you either haven't seen it, or your memory is extremely faulty.

No.

The 3DS can accommodate games like Monster Hunter which the DS could not and more importantly it can share assets with everything ranging from PSP to PS3. It's no NGP/PSP2 but it's at a comfortable level.
