and the raiders are goin to win the superbowl ;).

But joking aside, by the time 2001 rolls around MS and Nintendo will probably introducing their new consoles to the market. So the outcome is not so easy to predict. Guess we will all have to wait and see.

They are first place in the AFC west, and they say defense wins championships...

Nah, they might as well cancel all other games and just have the Colts and Pats play for the Super Bowl.

But, yes, I suppose one could dream.

Edit: "Colts and Pats are both in the AFC, they can't both be in the Superbowl"

Scottie, this is true, but last year, and the year before, and the year before, and every year since the Pats won their first Super Bowl, the real challenge has been getting though the AFC. Even the Cowboys and Packers are ants compared to the beasts that are the Colts and Pats in the AFC. Count on them playing each other in the playoffs again, this year, and count on the winner not even having trouble against any other teams.

I completely agree that Sony will win. Proven franchises + new ideas + new technology. What more do you need? Red ring? Achievements? Not me.

this generation there is room for everyone - there will be no losers - fanboys need not fret...

everyone is a winner in the nextgen race..

now that should put an end to another article generating five hundred million tedious replies between fanboys, fangirls and fanheshes.

I have a hard time believing Nintendo will lose based upon a few trends, not the least of which is the power of the console.

If memory serves...the last time the weakest console didn't win a console war was when Genisis beat out the SNES, and I think that was the only time, as well.

The NES beat out Sega Master System, the Gameboy beat out the Game Gear, and PS and PS2 dominated superior consoles.

The DS and Wii are the least powerful handheld and home consoles out there right now. I don't think I need to go on about Nintendo's introducing a new way of controlling what is on screen every 2 gens, or that Nintendo is getting a variety of games that appeal to everyone, to see that history looks kindly upon the weakest systems.

very good point, however:

1) until now there has never been as huge a gap as with between the wii and other consoles.

2) the dominance of casual gamers can not be relied upon since their tastes are fickle and hard to extrapolate due to lack of prior experience in the market.

3) even when speaking of the "weaker" consoles, each console has thusfar been a step up from their previous technology. this generation nintendo seems to have done a sidestep instead.
