Two recent accidental leaks of a new PlayStation 3 model number seem to at least half-confirm that a revised version of Sony's console is on the way and if one source is to be believed it could be with us by Christmas.
It's gonna be the fusion bomb of Sony's HD console, created to blow cowboys consoles (the XCOW 360s) out of market next year.
With the release of this new SKU, it would be a good idea if they changed the color of the PS3. I think it would make for an attractive purchase. I think I'd opt for Silver.
lol imagine if that was the big bang announcement "OMFG!!!!!!! PLAYSTATION IN VARIETY OF COLOUR!!! AWESOME COOL PERSONALISATION!!! SUPER HAPPY FUN TIME!!!"
Black or White is good I have a Black ipod a black PS3 and a black car! anyway This is all crap until Sony says it themselfs. In 2 weeks we will all know what Sony is thinking for the holiday season! I deffinetly think the 40GB is coming soon peace
Silver or White don't mind having another one for a Blu-ray player, forget the standalone........
When it comes out this year good timing for when games are release its bye bye 3fixme
Sony hurry up and bring this before christmas because something like this is what you need to win this gen, drop the price to $349 (due to the software lack) and you put the 360 in a corner or cause MS to drop their price drastically.....
Actually the 360 is putting the PS3 in a corner.. The 360 has been in the market for almost 2 years now and didn't even have a price drop until a month ago.. The PS3 hasn't even been in the market for a year you've seen one SKU discontinued, A price drop and then a cheaper SKU about to come out.. The fact that Sony isn't doing that great financially and M$ is probably the richest company in the world means that the 360 has more room for a price drop and M$ is able to take more losses financially compared to sony.. I'm pretty sure Sony is still losing money for every console they sell even with the cost cutting they are doing..
at this point, they should announce it already. people are holding back and not buying ps3 cuz of this.... they are losing business, they might as announce it now.... infact i'm sure its pissing off customers making them wait to see what it is.
You would think the Sony exec would know what there doing.... but they started with two sku, a 20gig and a 60gig......to replace them with a 80gig and a 40gig?? why confuse the customers? i say bring the 20gig back minus the wi-fi, minus flash memory cards slots, minus backward compatible, minus even bluetooth if it can make it cheaper.....and bring it to a price of $349. I own a 360, and i'm not buying another game console....but anyone trying to decide between a 360 or ps3, and both at $349 would most likely go with PS3, due to the fact of Blu-Ray.
and the ps3 would have gone through 4 skus. The 360 didnt have that many in its first year and is just now on the 4th sku. It just goes to show the hipocracy in gaming. There was already a cheaper ps3 in the form of the 20gb unit. People shunned it in favor of the 60 until it got to a point when gamers were all saying the ps3 is to expensive. So sony lowers the price to the 20gb price and people still scorn it. Add to that a new sku in the form of the 80gb to take the 60's place. Now there will be a "rumored" 40gb for $399. Come on sony. Make up your mind on which way you want to take this "dream machine". Is it a game system? Then price it accordingly. Is it a hd movie player? Price it accordingly. Apparently sony can't decide on where it should fit and gamers are all just sitting there waiting. 4 sku's in less than a year. Talk about desparation to make a sale. Sony should stand behind their product regardless of it being expensive. It would at least show to consumers they believe in their product. Lowering the price and coming out with multiple sku's does nothing but make consumers think they have no faith in their product. Sure it opens the door for more adoption by consumers but would you really want a product that has gone through 4 revisions in less than 12 months?
