XMNR:As part of the announcement of the Gears of War 3 beta dates and availability on Xbox LIVE, Epic Games also confirmed that the game will get two special editions and they've already popped up at some retailers.
While its cool to have confirmation. Most if not everyone knew this was inevitable. Examiner is terrible. Im eager to hear whats in the different sku's.
Examiner is just another one of those websites that hires anyone and pays them a percentage based off of page views that their articles receive.
I want a trilogy on PS3 ( Epic Boss Loves this)
Trilogy on PS3 is NEVER happening. Microsoft Games Studio publishes these games.
Epic Edition? It is a $150 limited edition... very excited about Gears of War 3, but the game doesn't freaken relese for 6 months! That's a lot of money too.
Save a dollar a day my friend :)
Standard Edition for me...
I don't get the appeal for these "special editions". It would be cool if there was only a limited production run, but it's not. It's just a waste of space. Why people pay the extra for crap they never appreciate is beyond me. And I'm a collector. The vintage-appeal just isn't there like the old Zelda: OoT Gold cartridges or the original copy of FF7 or FF10.
You make a point and list some great games. But when I buy a speacial addition I do appreciate the extra crap, I display my Noble Team Memorial statue and my Big Daddy statue proudly and usually pour over any books or extra content with nerdy excitement. Although they fuck with my OCD when they come in odd shaped cases! Where special editions dont make sense to me is when you get into MW2 prestige edition territory LOL...shhss cheap night vision goggles haha.
The only special edition i am getting is Duke Nukem balls of steel edition so much stuff comes with it lol.
While I like the idea of special editions and all that, I can't help but think that you are paying extra for guns to be unlocked, double xp, etc....before everyone else...not saying for sure that gears SE will be like that but KZ3's helghast edition was expensive and gave you an advantage for 24 hrs that when expired you had a good amount of stuff unlocked, due to double xp and all that jazz...i just don't like paying extra to unlock weapons and stuff before everyone else
It's always a bounus having that stuff for online but Collectors editions should have something to collect. Not in game content which will find it's way onto the marketplace anyway. Look at the Assassins Creed Codex edition....that was epic
This will be the only game this year that I splurge and buy the most expensive edition. I have the Gears 1 & 2 collectors edition and I definitely want to complete my set. Gears 3 is without a doubt my most anticipated game of 2011, followed closely by Mass Effect 3, but I've had my money down on Gears 3 for a while now, gonna have to have them switch it to the collectors edition for sure.
I got Gears 1 & 2 LE sealed. I got them way afterwards at a steal. Considering Epic Edition, but man that is a lot of dough even if I have it.
A lot of money for certain, but me and Gears of War goes way back, How many of us Bought XBox 360's when we first saw Gears Of War? I know it's the only reason I had to have one. Of course now there are lot's of reasons, but Gears is the first next generation game where I was blown away, I don't mind spending a little extra cash. Besides, we have 6 months, that's plenty of time to add the other bit of money towards it, since I already pre paid the $63 for Gears 3, I just need to add the other $90 or so.
My issue isn't that I don't necessarily have the money, I can definitely come up with it (albeit I just had a huge six figure expense). That said, spending money frivolously isn't how I build wealth. But I have done stupid stuff before, caved in and bought the super duper edition filling up my shelves. Gears 3 is likely to be no difference except it stays dear to my heart to. So glad when I found the Gears 1 CE sealed at a steal. Can you believe the luck?
I wonder what the Epic edition will include.
a ps3 copy
Lancer replica in the Epic Edition. I'm calling it.
