On average UK Xbox 360 gamers splurge £64 a month on their hobby, reports MCV.
Not sure what that translates to in American money, but as an avid XBox 360 user I spend an average of $150 a month on games and things for my 360. I look at it like a hobby, so I don't mind spending some cash on something I love so much.
It translates into 21 pints of Beer. So its cheaper than being an alcoholic. Although you could be both I suppose.
Nah, I don't really drink. Maybe at weddings a bit. I don't waste money on bads habits, you have nothing to show for them at the end of the day, where as if you spend money on games or gaming, you always get something in return.
... I kinda keep my 'entertainment' budget at around 100 euro a month. Occasionally I spend a bit more, and often I spend less. 'Entertainment' in my case means DVD/BR, comics/manga, and games.
Yea I think many people are the same. IT is a past time hobby, although I do agree that a sample of 250 is a little small. This year is going to be the most expensive for gamers on either console, and for the few gamers like me who have both consoles its gonna be seriously hard to buy all those games. All im doing is buying some games later than the release date so I actually have time to finish all the other games I buy and possibly have a chance of buying some of the games I miss pre owned.
"The findings were part of a survey of 251 UK Xbox 360 gamers aged between 25 and 34 years old" Lol, yup - that's a completely fair representation of all Xbox Gamers.
Except for the 100,000 little 12 year old kids playing Black ops
251 people? derp.
Repairs ain't cheap.
does that include replacement xboxs? proprietary HDDs? Controller battery packs? xbox live? Kinect? How do the people that only spend £64 afford new games?
maybe they dont buy new games? the used game market is huge you know and theres always piracy
Well there unemployment giro money has to go towards something.
This is only meaningful if we know what comparable gamers spend. i.e. PC, PS3, Wii, Ds Etc.
"Xbox 360 gamers aged between 25 and 34 years old" is that even the majority age in the UK? im guessing no, a xbox 360 is dirt cheap in the UK and even cheaper if you get a used one so i can imagine tons of kids being the majority
The sample size is too small and the age group is too restrictive to really say much about the results. I expect they have all the results but only published for this group as it's the most positive marketing message. The last Neilson survey I saw, about 2009 I think and only for the US showed the largest demographic on the XBox was teenagers for males and late 20's for females. The PS3 was in the middle with both females and males in their early 20's being the largest group.
I only spent £40 on 360 this month. For some reason I don't buy that many games.
Not like the good ol days when Microsoft actually released exclusives ...
few weeks ago just ordered my 2nd 360 (I had a first gen system that I shocked back to life at least 10 times for a few days worth of play sessions. but it recently died for good,) for me, I love exclusives and all, but the reason I bought a new 360 is because I had a ton of dedicated friends who are online all the time. I have a ps3 with around 70 friends, and no more than 7 or 8 of them are online at any given time, and when they are, it's netflix or some random sports game that I don't care to play. So yeah, I spent 320 bucks this month on a new console, and I bought Halo Reach from the blockbuster that's closing near me for 20 bucks. (man do I love when they close, new release blu rays are like 8 bucks instead of 20 and games, like dead space 2 are roughly half their normal price).
on my xbox I use to spend around £60, thats normally 1 Game, then I would buy points and use that on xbla games and gamerpics
