Nintendo released a brand new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

looks great, nice to see more landscapes then the initial trailer. But I can't help feel a little disappointed when the camera zoomed in onto the mysterious figure. The Zelda team said they were inspired to push the graphics after seeing MH3, and yet the close up really doesn't show that. Hopefully it looks better on a later build.
Everything else looks pretty great. It's kinda hard to compare to Monster Hunter since the people were build more realistically than this Zelda game is trying to be.
I agree the overall graphics don't look that great. I myself though don't like the art-style at all. I'd much rather have a darker looking game like TP. I've never been a big Zelda fan to begin with. I was thinking about getting this, but it is just painful for me to look at. Hopefully it turns out good for those who are getting it.
Im not saying SS should look like MH, that would be weird, but im surprised at the lack of "wow" graphically wise. TP looked great for a GC game, Galaxy and Other M look gorgeous, I was hoping Zelda would get that treatment. It'll probably look gorgeous when released but so far the trailers haven't been flattering.
interesting art style... Its like TP combined with TWW.
I can't wait for this game!
hope it has spells
i saw a magic bar
What is with Zelda and bloom effects? Has no else noticed in the latest 3D Zelda games (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword) is like stepping into a solar flare. Anyway, it's nice to finally see some new gameplay and was that Vaati, the kid in the trailer that dissapears into diamonds.
all of the Fable games have exponentially more bloom than this game.
Windwaker doesnt have bloom...just a fake field of depth blurr in the distance..
look's nice. I like the fact that Zelda and Mario Brothers games have a longer development time, that way you know they are going to be amazing.
probably the first time i have not been excited by a new console zelda title. looks 'meh' to me at best
I sooo want this game
This might actually be the first Zelda game I dont buy. I cannot support an exclusively right- handed link (especially since im left handed and its gonna be a bitch to try and play this).
...but honestly, who cares if he’s not left handed? That’s just silly.
haha my whole comment was just supposed to be about the physical limitation thing. It just pisses me off that links always been left handed and now he's right handed WITHOUT THE OPTION to have him playable left-handed. Thats all that really bugs me... And yes im probably gonna get a lot of disagrees from right handed people who dont give a rats ass. (wow I feel prejudice right now lol)
Sorry, man. I don’t know why they don’t just make lefty an option.
LOL you are a lefty and you been using right handed controllers for how many years? I am left handed and I call BS on what you claim. Any true left handed person got use to the world being right handed by the age of 8.
You do realise that you have always moved a character with your left hand... In a sense it still wouldn't make sense. Its the same as right-handed people needing to adapt to the left hand mechanics, as to left-handed people needing to adapt to the right hand mechanic. Im not sure if it really fairs that great if you got your option...
I mean its only awkawrd for me with motion gaming. I dont want to have to control a sword with my right hand when it just feels right in my left hand.
Unimpressed, sucks to be looking at at new zelda game trailer and typing that. Nintendo really did mess things up with the wii, it goes to show ya that just because your going out the gate faster than the other horses doesn't mean your going to finish up 1rst. Nintendo should of known better than to put a motion controller on a gamecube and sell it as a new system.
that has to be the most generic comment, what does that have to do with the trailer? Go to gamespot's console wars section, you'll feel right at home.
Actually, it has everything to do with the trailer. Being the reason I looked at a Zelda game trailer of a game that looks like it could of came out 7 to 5 years ago is because of it's on a shitty game system. And I don't know about the gamespot bs you wrote about but it sounded like you know the place,if you came from there you can certainly take your ass back. Thanks.
I like that they're trying new things in the gameplay. This should debunk the claim that Zelda games never change. Weather you approve of it or not, you can't say this is copy/paste Zelda this time.
You don't know fanboys do you? They'll make the exact same claims regardless of what the facts say.
Tears of Joy.
I don't own a wii, but have all the previous Zelda titles, and gotta say this looks bland. It's odd because if this game didn't have Link square in the middle, and the signature HUD with the hearts and such, you'd never know that this was a Zelda game. maybe the trailer is low quality but from a graphical standpoint, there is been little to no improvement over Twilight Princess. It has a unique visual style, but the WII has really hindered technical breathing room for a series such as this. Just imagine if Nintendo's next console were as powerful as the ps3, and they released a Zelda game that looked gritty and photo realistic. I always imagined if this were to happen, that it'd look like Shadow of the Colossus on steroids. Hyrule being a vast, seemingly endless plane to wander through. The camera seems to be afraid to pull back in this trailer, which is odd because many trailers have a tendency to give context through an environment pan/truck to show off the different environments and such. I will get disagrees because of me not having a WII, I understand that. I just wish for better from one of my personal top 3 franchises.
"Just imagine if Nintendo's next console were as powerful as the ps3, and they released a Zelda game that looked gritty and photo realistic. " I think i can say this for the majority of zelda fans, GOD NO!
That would be just horrible... yikes...
"I don't own a wii, but have all the previous Zelda titles, and gotta say this looks bland. " funny how you didn't respond to this, the second concept was a mere example of the first statement. No one wants a realistic looking zelda game? interesting...maybe the Wii really is the perfect console for you guys.
No you see, The reason I do not want a "realistic" zelda is due the fact that CelShaded visuals really compliment the world of "Hyrule". I loved TP, but honestly its no where near as "magical" as Wind Waker is. Of course this is all opinion, but you sure dont have to pretend a realistic Zelda is the ultimatum.
I also loved Wind Waker, and do agree with you on the cartoony look and feel of the game. it has a unique visual flair that brought each and every character to life. However, the gritty, dark semi realistic zelda WAS twilight princess. eh...doesn't matter, I'll get disagrees anyways.
I can't wait to see more at E3 and get this into my hands.
Graphics are fine i would say.The two biggest things they need this time is both a real challenge regards to combat and less guiding by the hand- to the point in fact that on one or two occasions i think in TP, they lead you out of one dungeon and straight into another- and that to me just isn't what a Zelda game Loved Wind Waker but it was too easy and short TP was great but made more casual outside dungeons- Nintendo needs to make us work for our clues Not yet played the DS versions but they look charming enough Snes version was pure gold and the first GB also rather excellent Majora's Mask is fantastically good and of course OOT is Epic like you expect a Zelda game to be Sad to say then that this could be the last time i invest in a Zelda game if it turns out rather lacking in an essential magic feel- much like how Bungie's Halo became less pure with each game -, because although each of these sequels has always been decent, never to the same extraordinary standard of earlier games Fingers crossed for sky but they need to get this Zelda right this time,
When’s the last time they really got a Zelda game wrong? Zelda 2? Sure, you can have complaints about any entry in the series, but saying that any of them were “wrong” is silly. I swear, Zelda fans can nitpick anything to death...
Right in the sense that it doesn't wrongfoot anywhere.Zelda since i first played the incredible Zelda Past for Snes has been part of why i love Nintendo so much but despite being all excellent games after Majoras's Mask- i did say this actually - they haven't truly measured up in some important ways I love the series for it's astonishing mysterious and delightful stories, and for it's quirky yet not too totally over the top characters, but what has changed is outside clue finding- TP was very simple for example regards to this because it seemed afraid to let you work it out for yourself like OOT or Majoras. The more stop start nature that is to get stuck periodically outside dungeons, this was simplified so that it was no longer an issue for the player- i guess so that it didn't upset potential Zelda fans in the form of casual players.Combat as well is always way too easy now and exactly why there is a new option being included this time for people complaining just that Great series that is deserving of all it's praise but it's lost some of it's edge for a number of fans because of these reasons
I too wish they would stop holding the player’s hand, for instance. But I think that will change a bit in SS, at least as far as the “overworld” is involved. They want to make it more dense and packed with wonder and enemies like in LttP... It sounds like they’ll allow the player to explore like they used to. They called it “a return to basics,” if I recall. It was in one of the Iwata Asks segments.
Actually Silk you were right with what you said, i did only say decent and not excellent. All the Nintendo made Zelda games have been decent as in really very decent but for me not quite reaching that epic feel of past games- mind you Wind Waker was bloody amazing but just too short and easy i found Ah well fingers crossed
LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL I can't wait!
lol it looks like an n64 game. it looks worse than twilight princess by far. nowhere near as good as wind waker. it looks pathetic if im blunt. around the 40 second mark of that vid, you see some real shocking graphics.. horrible boxy and simple models and garish colours.. its bad, real real bad. remember those screenshots they released after e3? they looked good compared to what was shown in this latest trailer. and at the time i thought those screenshots were poor. now those screenshots look like they were totally faked on a pc and the actual game looks nothing like them. ugh, even the enemies look horrid, reminds me of pokemon characters.. a monkey? an exploding monkey!? what in gods name were they thinking?! its like something out of mario. mario is cool, but this game is zelda, not mario! i think nintendo have dropped the ball on this one. the more they show, the worse it gets. the music sounds off too, reminds me of blue peter, or some background music for a cooking program. i can just imagine some food being prepared to that music. it sounds all happy and optimistic. music to skip to. this game is going to be so dumbed down, i can see it already.
The enemies look more like he original Moblins. Do I need to say more? PCZ you have proven yourself that you are just butthurt over NOTHING and just complain and cry obsessively. Talking to you is like talking to a 6 year old. Zelda:SS is NOT build for the next generation console and thats that. So just stop your complaining.
''PCZ you have proven yourself that you are just butthurt over NOTHING and just complain and cry obsessively'' haha im not crying or butthurt, sounds more like you are. you cant take any criticism to your precious zelda. even though the evidence is clearly pointing towards one thing- this game is turning out to be a disappointment. ''Talking to you is like talking to a 6 year old. '' and talking to you is like talking to a brick wall. ''Zelda:SS is NOT build for the next generation console and thats that. '' i dont care if its for a next gen console. xeno isnt on a next gen console and that has massive scope. so does last story. those, especially the latter, are games with a big vision. and it shows! so far, all i have heard about this skyward sword is hype, but when you look at it, none of that hype rings true. it looks appalling. ''just stop your complaining'' how about you wake up and see the game for what it is. stop dreaming that this is worth defending or excited about, because from where im standing, it looks like its only worth a shrug.
"lol it looks like an n64 game. it looks worse than twilight princess by far. nowhere near as good as wind waker. it looks pathetic" back under the bridge!
Not a big fan of the HUD and some of the graphics look a bit... off (specifically the androgynous villain,) but besides that, it looks like some of Zelda’s mechanics will finally see an overhaul. Color me excited.
Feel sorry for anyone who won't be playing this this year.
Looks like my kind of zelda and it seems the story will be interesting with the mystery man there
Nintendo more than any other i would personally say, pour ever ounce of their soul it seems into these games, so this one may just hit the spot- what with the fan feedback they must have recieved concerning certain niggles It's not that any of these games has actally been bad but the Zelda bar for some fans is measured by those past games and with Nintendo reaching out to new audiences like they are ie making a more approachable experience, it's bound to irritate some true fans
