Nintendo Praises Microsoft, Xbox Live, and Call of Duty

Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata gave his GDC 2011 keynote earlier this morning in California. With a focus on social gaming and the social interface developers and other companies have given the game industry over the last twenty-five year, Nintendo acknowledged two of the largest contributors.

nintendo praises call of duty for what??? ripping of people that's what!

NYC_Gamer2764d ago (Edited 2764d ago )

its peoples choice to get robbed ever year

Kon2764d ago

I don't understand why you get disagrees.

Kran2764d ago

@Kon

Cause like me, NYC_Gamer is quite known all around N4G and is very opinionative, such as myself, so we get disagrees and agrees no matter what.

dredgewalker2764d ago

You get disagrees here even if you are right. You shouldn't really care about disagrees if you really believe in your opinion. I've been here long enough to know that.

lizard812882764d ago

yeah. lets hope nintendo beefs up their online. i can live without a Cock of Doody game coming out each year. then have the ps3 gamers complain about how bad it is and this is their last CoD game ever...

Active Reload2764d ago

I only consider PS3 fans opinion on the game. I'm not talking about the bizzaro ones, I'm talking about the ones that actually love COD and are still playing it.

dredgewalker2764d ago

@Active

I still play COD MW1, though I prefer the hardcore mode cause I find having no radar, crosshairs and friendly fire a lot more fun and challenging.

CBaoth2764d ago (Edited 2764d ago )

You make pointless, uninformed posts on topics you clearly jumped to the conclusion by reading the yellow, journalistic heading and not actually watching the press conference.

He also attributed credit to other 3rd party titles like, The Sims, that have expanded social networking through video games. But I guessed you missed that part too?

Inside_out2763d ago (Edited 2763d ago )

.
It's hard to talk about gaming this gen and NOT mention those two factors...of course Nintendo selling 85+ million consoles should be at the top of the list for obvious reasons...lol...Halo should of been in there as well...Halo 3 sold 12+ million exclusive on 360 and is still in the top 15 games played on Live.

Weird how he didn't mention Sony, Sony move, Blu-ray or the PlayStation brand at all...hmmmm... ;D

Chromer2763d ago

That's why you have one bubble Cez. For saying retarded, fanboyish stuff like that. Just because Nintendo didn't mention Sony doesn't mean that Nintendo doesn't see Sony as a direct competitor.

MaxXAttaxX2763d ago (Edited 2763d ago )

I really hope Nintendo doesn't try and follow Activision and Microsoft and start overcharging.

Stay cool Nintendo.

@2fk

True to that. Nintendo ripped people off with the wii that is why they are congratulating M$ for ripping off more peeps.

Get Nintendo to praise you, and say nothing nice of them.

Hehe.

Active Reload2764d ago

Nah, both MS and Nintendo have respect for each other, the kind that can be quoted, not the kind that is to be assumed.

limewax2764d ago

hence kinect....FUN!!! :/

Christopher2763d ago

It's easy for Nintendo to praise Microsoft considering they're not openly competing in similar markets.

Sony, on the other hand, is Nintendo's primary competitor when it comes to Japan as a whole, handheld gaming, and now even possibly motion gaming.

At least that's how I see it.

mcstorm2764d ago

Good too see Nintendo don't just think of them selfs like some others do. Nintendo have done a good job each Gen in consoles and imo been the best game developer since the start no one can match them in terms of quality games they have given us since the nes.

Trevonn2763d ago

there games are cosistent in qualiy
but there also consistent rehashes
when was the last time nintendo made a big new ip ......-never-

NeutralGamer2763d ago

"when was the last time nintendo made a big new ip ......-never-"

I remember long time ago when they made a big new ip called Jumpman later renamed to Mario...

LAL it may be long time ago, but dont say it never happened dude...

Trevonn2763d ago (Edited 2763d ago )

@NeutralGamer i mean a big new ip thats diffrent from the rehashes they have churned out since the 80s not some game that was renamed mario which is apart of the bunch which consists of mario/donkey kong metroid zelda and the rest then in the 90s pokemon started now look at it just as bad as cod/fifa or pes and madden

mcstorm2763d ago

It depends on how you look at it. Donky Kong, Mario Bros, Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid, Fzerp are the Main IP's of Nintendo Just like GT is to sony But the one thing Nintendo have done better than anyone else is make different types of games that all work very well no matter what they do. Look at Mario for example. 1,2,3 smw were all amazing games then they made Mario 64 which blew the other games away on how they made a 2D game into a Full 3D game then the next level with Mario Galaxy. Yes they may be a mario game but they all offer something different.

Name a game made by Nintendo that has been a big flop? I can not think of any.

Each company has its star titels but Nintendo have been around longer then the other 2 and do an amazing job of thinking of new ideas for there games and thats why imo Nintendo are by far the best game makers we have seen.

dredgewalker2764d ago

Does this mean we're gonna get an FPS Mario? Hmmmm Call of Plumbing doesn't sound too bad :P

koehler832764d ago

I hope that doesn't mean Nintendo plans on copying it.

dredgewalker2764d ago

COD prints money, hence the admiration.

koehler832764d ago

No, not COD. They can copy COD all they like. It's LIVE that I hope they don't copy.

dredgewalker2764d ago (Edited 2764d ago )

They do need a better on-line capability. Let's face it, MS earns a lot of dough through Live and you can't blame Nintendo if they ever did copy it. But I don't like paying extra just to be able play on-line.

Edit: I just noticed we both have Jesus avatars :)

koehler832764d ago (Edited 2764d ago )

I won't argue that point either. And it's not even the fee that bothers me about LIVE (though I also refuse to pay it.) If Nintendo wanted to charge for a full service online feature set, I wouldn't fault them. It's their service.

It's the closed infrastructure that I don't want them or anyone else to copy. It's not good for consumers or the industry at large. I don't necessarily want to see platform convergence, but there's so many opportunity for services to overlap that it's not in anyone's best interest, other than the fee collector, to keep a closed environment like that.

Active Reload2763d ago

koehler83, are you a pc gamer? If not, I would like to know what other option you're considering to be not "closed infrastucture".

awiseman2764d ago

Live is an excellent servie and it unrivaled the only issue it the pay. Nintendo's online sucks Ive used it.

multipayer2764d ago

Unrivaled is the wrong term, because it clearly has rivals by free services doing the same thing.
