"We're figuring out how to bring it back," says publisher's games chief
this makes sense from the business point of view
Audience sitting right here! game please?! But yeah it does, it wasnt the worst selling game though, hammered enslaved and that got DLC, why not a mirrors edge sequel
I personally wouldn't mind episodic releases to keep a franchise alive. Every 3-6 months, a new episode is released, at least 3 hours worth of game time for $10 maybe $15, would be decent. "But yeah it does, it wasnt the worst selling game though, hammered enslaved and that got DLC, why not a mirrors edge sequel " Different publishers?
make it a open word game, GTA style but with ME graphics and gameplay obviously
I'm sure they would if they had the money.
I certainly does but from a gamers point of view it probably sucks as it likely means dumbing down the game for the masses. They could keep the existing difficulty and still make it easier for people to pick up by offering multiple paths through the game. On harder difficulties you'll find the less challenging path blocked or inaccessible in some way. And the way the game ended it lends itself very well to 2 player co-op for the sequel.
I'm a big fan of the first game, I hope they make a second. That said they do need to improve on a lot of things if they do. But it's good to see that number 2 isn't actually cancelled.
I truly, truly hope they bring this back.
There's still a gap in the market for a game like this, even since Mirror's Edge released, I haven't seen anything like it. If they improved the gunplay and combat (or just got rid of it all together) and changed the art style slightly I think it would do very well. They could also make it more open world, the first game was very linear, I'd prefer to be able to choose which route I want to take.
translation: GIV US YOUR $$$ and we make mirrors edge. No $$ = No mirrors Edge.
They need to release mirros edge 2 at the start of the next gen. With few games to buy at the start of a gen people will buy the game to have something to play. Thus getting people to try Mirror's Edge series and have a bigger audience.
I dont want to wait for that. I loved Mirrors edge what a great game wish more people got into it . But please don't make us wait that long.
Yeah it's already been 2 years since Mirrors Edge
Unfortunatly they will most likely have to shoehorn gunplay into the game to appeal to the narrow minded masses that plunk down money for the next COD/Halo/Medal of Honor game. With that in mind. If it goes that direction. There needs to be some kind of penalty for it. Like, the enemies get more aggressive towards you once you grab a gun. But there has to be a way to play the game without using a gun. That is the one major defining point of the game for me.
Yeh, the gunplay in Mirror's edge was terrible, I really wish they would have put some stealth levels in. I mean the city is under constant surveillance (on the ground at least)which makes it the perfect setting for a stealthy level. and in the first game we never really got to explore the ground level of the city. Hopefully in the next game (if they make it) they add more stealth elements and less gunplay.
I could see some stealth elements working perfectly esp. since the gun play was terrible. Although i thought i beat the whole game without firing a shot in the 1st one.
This type of game has potential. I would have liked the ability to change between first person and third person. To make it something that can grow the franchise I would focus on the sensory aspects. You're high above a city, but most of the time I didn't feel like it. Make me feel the fear of falling to go along with the other things I feel, and make those other fears more pronounced. I'd love to keep the adrenaline level high throughout.
I didn't want to add a disagree to your comment because some of it I agree with. The part I don't agree with is playing in 3rd person. The first person perspective is what made it so special.
Yeah, the first person is fun. I just find it somewhat disorienting sometimes. Same reason I don't like FPS games. So I see what you're saying.
AKA needs to sell so we make more money and not have to invest much.
*watch they come out with it in like 2 more years later*...sigh................. .....the game brink somewhat reminded me of the jumping and stuff from ME1, so thing i am hoping right now is that brink will fill up ME2 spot of the free running feeling
I am also excited about Brink! Maybe I'll see you out there in Container City.
One of the bravest games EA published and gave them loads of cred as a publisher of yearly sports updates It's a shame most didn't buy it.
This industry desperately needs more games like Mirrors Edge. Fresh, innovative, charming... I would love to see a sequel!
Just advertise the game more and make it bloody good, because the first one was awesome. Dead Space didn't sell very well and DS2 exceeded its sales, so for ME2, its possible.
I'm hoping that they do make a Mirror's Edge 2. The original game had/has some of the greatest potential for a series I have ever seen. That, and it's not another call of duty or shooter. I loved the simplistic style of the world, the sense of motion you felt as you ran through it. All they would need to do, is market it more, make the campaign longer, possibly add a multiplayer 1v1 race mode or something. (not just leader boards) Add more moves which you could pull off, and add more depth for the combat system. Agree with me if you think this is pretty much what they need to do. (Hell, maybe there should be a petition!)
Good to hear this project is only on hold. Games like this has far more potential than most games out there.
CO-op and maybe level creator like in infamous and Dante's inferno should boost sales
i want mirror edge 2 :(
