Playstation 3 has always struggled to find ways to combat the paying community of Xbox Live to little avail. Online communities are generally more filled with hacking (especially lately) and download times are atrocious when compared to Microsoft’s infrastructure. Fortunately, with the first LittleBigPlanet, Sony had found its foothold in the online realm: user-generated content.
Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
It's true that PSN needs to play catch up with Xbox Live, but the user content is definitely the way to go. In fact, as a person who long ago wrote off PSN, I am find myself more intrigued by it.
I think this is a great move on Sony's part. The reason the PC thrived for so long was because of UGC (user generated content). I think with the PSN being as open as it is, it could lead to the longevity that they were talking about when they said that they wanted to make the PS3 future-proof. It's a quality that's sorely lacking on X Box Live despite their touting of UGC back in 2004 and 05 before the launch of the 360. Good on them!
of course the community will support it see thats where having a commuity based off the cpre audiance is good for not only will they suppport the product you give them but if its good enough you get even more hardocre fans before getting the casuals who just leech the everything in.
Am I the only one who feels like this is a cheap way out of the company doing the design and work themselves?
didn't even need to read the article. psn has always struggled to combat the paying community of xbox. What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
Does it not offer gaming online?? Ain't had any problems with download times either.
