inFAMOUS 2: Capitalizing on the Playstation Community | VGW

Playstation 3 has always struggled to find ways to combat the paying community of Xbox Live to little avail. Online communities are generally more filled with hacking (especially lately) and download times are atrocious when compared to Microsoft’s infrastructure. Fortunately, with the first LittleBigPlanet, Sony had found its foothold in the online realm: user-generated content.

It's true that PSN needs to play catch up with Xbox Live, but the user content is definitely the way to go. In fact, as a person who long ago wrote off PSN, I am find myself more intrigued by it.

Honestly, when I game online, it's almost exclusively on XBL, but with things like LBP2 and inFAMOUS 2, I find it hard to even think about writing PSN off anymore.

just hope the community supports it

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Sony really lost me as a fan and supporter with the whole PS3 launch and online content "thing." In fact, I can say I have logged into my PSN account twice.

But when I read stuff like this it reminds me that there is real potential there that needs to be supported and nurtured.

I think this is a great move on Sony's part. The reason the PC thrived for so long was because of UGC (user generated content). I think with the PSN being as open as it is, it could lead to the longevity that they were talking about when they said that they wanted to make the PS3 future-proof. It's a quality that's sorely lacking on X Box Live despite their touting of UGC back in 2004 and 05 before the launch of the 360. Good on them!

of course the community will support it see thats where having a commuity based off the cpre audiance is good for not only will they suppport the product you give them but if its good enough you get even more hardocre fans before getting the casuals who just leech the everything in.

Am I the only one who feels like this is a cheap way out of the company doing the design and work themselves?

if you've played infamous 1 post end game you'd think otherwise once you've done all the quests and finished the story the only thing that you'd had to do were stunts and collecting shards ( awefull ).

NOw we're assured to always have something to do in this game..end after the credits ..

Nonw LBP2 , and MNR both have user generated content AND solid Single player .. you CAN have BOTH

Tony-Red-Grave2815d ago

imma quote Kb
random guy: "so when do you finsih the game"
KB: "NEVER"

Focker4202815d ago

If you've ever played LittleBigPlanet or Modnation Racers then you'd know thats not the case. Which it appears you haven't.

Raven_Nomad2815d ago

I played the first LBP, I liked it, but I just did the modes the game offered.

@Raven_Nomad

Not sure you could really say you've "played" LittleBigPlanet then ;) haha just messin'

PS - Big Ravens fan here too!

didn't even need to read the article. psn has always struggled to combat the paying community of xbox. What the fuck is that supposed to mean?

Does it not offer gaming online?? Ain't had any problems with download times either.

Tony-Red-Grave2815d ago

the aticle should be more detailed with a psn vs xbl agruement. sure xbl does have better features, and a better in game menu -in game xmb is just long to load- but in turth theres not much xbl can offer for a price that psn can't match so there not that far apart in terms of service.

aside from that psn is much more open and the community i belive would have to be based off personal opinion ie:i dont think i'd have as much fun talking to a random guy playing halo vs a game like kz or socom the games are to different which sets a different atmosphere ^_^ hope it makes sense
