Why do most EA titles get released as 'Limited Edition'? If there's no 'regular edition', what's so limited about it?

They are most likely going to be running the route of the Limited Edition that came with Bad Company 2.

"Completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements/trophies, and more."

Most likely the weapons would be initially locked if you didn't buy the game new, the new vehicles will be native to the Karkland maps, first release maps are only accessible if you bought a new copy of BF2 and what I been hearing, will be a limited time frame where you will be able to download the Karkland maps.

Limited edition seems to mean "brand new" which gets you extra features, like map packs etc. Whereas you don't get these features if you buy 2nd hand (ie trade ins), unless you buy the "extras" as DLC.

Its to recover losses from people buying 2nd hand games.

At least that way more money goes to the developers making the games rather than just the people who sell them.

Would you rather be awarded for dropping full price in a game or awarded for dropping full price plus 20 dollars?
