Critical reception?
I think it was given a pass by most sites and over rated by others.

Bulletstorm is a fun shooter but it seriously lacks depth.
Short SP, weak story and voice acting, cheap satire humor, one online mode, average graphics (this far into this generations life cycle) and okay sound. Nothing about this game jumps out at me. 86 average is a little high for me personally. I would say a flat 8/80 more suits this game and that is only because it offers little something different to this over saturated genre.

It's a simplistic bare bones title.
