Dragon Age 2 Demo: This Ain’t Dragon Age

Dragon Age 2 Demo dropped on the XBL Marketplace this morning. I had been playing Dragon Age 1 to gear up for the March 8th release. Total waste of time: DA2 is nothing like DA1.
Yes, Ferelden is there. So are those pesky Darkspawn, but the rest of the game is unrecognizable. The gameplay is ridiculously fast, reminds me of Ninety-Nine Nights. The character view angle is bothersome as well. Felt like I had totally lost my peripheral and I had a hard time “seeing” the enemy. The graphics and character modeling is reminiscent of Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth. Hair and makeup looks to be provided by Final Fantasy. So many cowlicks and flips!

The title is confusing, as the writer then concludes with the line; "From the menus to the dialogue and vamped up gameplay, Dragon Age 2 isn’t a sequel – it’s what we all dreamed Dragon Age could be."

So...how can DA2 NOT be Dragon Age, when you say its what Dragon Age is?

He's saying it's what DA1 SHOULD HAVE been. Not what it was.

Reading comprehension fail.

GameNTrain2770d ago

Actually one of my female authors wrote the post.

MiloGarret2770d ago (Edited 2770d ago )

What's the purpose of pointing out that the writer is female?

Is it a sexist attempt at excuse for sucking at writing?

Sorry, never clicking anything that says "GameNTrain" again.

GrumpyVeteran2770d ago

Sega, I believe it was because I said "he" rather than she.

I didn't take note of the author's name.

GameNTrain2770d ago

Correct. I said she because the author was said to be male which is not true. If you notice from the staff page, the majority of GNT staff is female. And I think that the author of this piece is one of my best writers. So no, I am not sexist.

NaiNaiNai2770d ago

Havent played DA: Origins yet. Do you think I should first give it a try or just jump right away to DA2 ?

I want to play the "real" DA but not all that excited by the crappy graphics and boring looking combat of the console versions

NYC_Gamer2770d ago

i believe you should play the first one and import that save data

Kran2770d ago (Edited 2770d ago )

Thats the problem with MANY gamers. They can't take the change.

I mean I can easily take a change when it comes to games. I mean its like opening up to a new AAA game.

I mean take AC for example. Assassin's Creed 1 was alright to a certain extent. Didnt understand the story though and felt repetitive. I wasnt sure on buying the second, but I did anyway, and that was just a huge leap on making the game full of epic.

... "I mean" too much :/

Kalowest2770d ago (Edited 2770d ago )

True, its hard to find a balance, when it comes to making a sequel; because ppl are going to cry if you add too little, or too much.
Some sequels change for the better like you said AC is one, and others not so much Resistance2.

Sorry if i seem off-topic

I never played 1. But I like dragon age 2.
