I love Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. I also love Dragon Quest IX.
Which is why I was intrigued by Lord of Arcana, a PSP release which seemingly combines gaming elements from both these franchises. Publisher, Square Enix, has attempted to stake a claim in what it deems to be the lucrative territory surrounding these two behemoths. In doing so, it has created something which on the surface seems highly polished, but ultimately lacks the charm and depth of the titles it’s attempting to emulate.
