This Gran Turismo 5 Bug Can Kill Your Game

Over the past few weeks, many Gran Turismo 5 players around the web have reported a very serious bug in the game’s save file: once it reaches 4165KB in size, it can no longer be used. When the game attempts to load the file, the following (somewhat misleading) PS3 error message will be displayed:

“Insufficient free space on hard disk drive (HDD). At least 32MB required. Please exit the game and free up some space. 0×00000015 [217]“

As of writing, it is unknown if there is any way to get around this error message, reduce the file’s size, or recover your data. Worse yet, it will eventually affect everyone who continues playing GT5. Until Polyphony Digital resolves this issue in a future update, there’s little that you can do, but you can take action now to help ensure it does not affect you.

Kazunori Yamauchi has addressed this issue via Twitter, confirming that it will be fixed in the next game update to be released on February 18th:

"Be fixed in the next update. Sorry for the inconvenience over. RT @co2_uk: This Gran Turismo 5 Bug Can Kill Your Game"

I just came across this and I'm about to check out my gamesave file size that's on my PS3. I do regular backups and the last one on my PC shows about 585KB or so in size but I sure as hell am not going to be checking the Museum (never really used it anyway) and stay away from the News links (especially since I get my info online way before I get into GT anyway). Hope this helps keep anyone from losing any data.

we will remain to have alot more updates over due course of the year or more.

This is no bad thing as Kazunori Yamauchi said this will be not to just fix any issues but increase the gameplay. like the remote b-spec
hey what you know a game that can be changed threw updates not having to pay DLC. go back play with your 360.

No problems for me and my friends.

despair2660d ago

are you pass that size save file?

Neko_Mega2660d ago

I don't even check the size of my file, I play GT5 and I buy a lot of cars.

So until me or my friends see a problem, I don't think there is one.

Cry me a river people, disagree all you want. You don't get a trophy for it.

So even though the information is confirmed by GTPlanet which is probably the most respected & known site for all things Gran Turismo you still choose to put your hands over your ears, close your eyes & yell "LaLaLaLaLaLaLa" while putting your head in the sand?

Amazing...absolutely amazing the amount of immaturity around here. I guess you would rather people who love this game lose their hard earned data instead of trying to help people avoid it huh? Because it sure looks that way.

Honestly you are the kind of person who actually deserves to get hit with this since you prefer to be so blindly ignorant & adamantly closed minded about it.

@ Below ~ I & none of my friends have had a problem either...but you keep going with the blinders on and sooner or later you (& others like you) will get to 4165KB and find out the hard way if it doesn't get fixed (which I know isn't gonna happen as PD will address this). For more info & proof of confirmation read here

As I said if anyone read it, me and my friends haven't had a problem.

My file is just over 1500KB and I;ve played GT5 a lot. Amazing that they can get the file size so small for tracking so much. I have a lot of the museum cards, paints and cars in my garage even. This must only be a problem for anyone who has all the cars.

Mine is 4099KB

Dodged a bullet there

despair2660d ago

do what they said and copy it to a flash drive or something, just in case they don't address it in the next patch.
