Ubisoft Toronto head Jade Raymond says the studios next IP will revolve around community and sharing.
Ubisoft Toronto’s managing director Jade Raymond entered the industry as a fan, she said during her session at DICE this year, discovering games at thirteen and focusing all her efforts on becoming part of the industry by playing as many games as she could and programming in her spare time until she was able to complete a computer science degree.
“Fans are important,” Raymond said. “I don’t know if a lot of the audience are Star Trek fans, but I personally am, and it was brought back from cancellation by the fans, and fans have always had quite a bit of power. I had the pleasure to work with Will Wright [on The Sims Online] and I was fascinated by how much time he would spend looking at what fans were doing, reading their stories, and from what he learned putting it into the next expansion.”
