Epic Games designer Cliff Bleszinski has said his goodbyes to the Guitar Hero franchise, in his typically frank fashion.
5 Guitar Hero games in 2009. 3 Rock Band games in 2009. Rise of the SixString in 2010. The music genre was oversaturated.
Rock Band FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1
Lets hope Rock Band doesnt follow suit. I hope they release one maybe every year and a half or two years.
Says the man who's released the same game twice and intends to do so a third time.
BAT DUN JEW SHE?! HE ISH HARTKOOREEEE.
Uh... I think you've been playing too much Magicka there, man.
You can't compare Gears to Guitar Hero. Gears has 2 games out and Guitar Hero has a rediculous amount floating around.
I would need more than ten fingers to count the number of trilogies being released this generation. You're just a troll.
Activision will die this year. TC and GH cancelled, new CoD game...
Regardless of how anyone feels about Mr. Bobby or some of the games they release, they are not going to die this year or any time soon. They are making too much money. One game alone just sold 20 million copies and they have Blizzard.
I'm more pissed off about true crime than guitar hero
I agree completely. True Crime hasn't appeared in some time and that was one I was really looking forward to. Activision is hitting a new low altogether.
I agree, I was kind of hoping for that game to come out more then guitar hero, clearly that game was going to end sooner or later
This guy,Jaffe and Kotick are the attention W**re of Video game industry.
Replace Jaffe with Pachter.
@FiftyFourPointTwo Instead Patcher is not really part of the industry... He is just the lame kid who tries to look like a part of it...
I agree with Cliffy. Activision had milked guitar hero dry. I personally don't care what they say. I think True Crime would have been good and canning that was a bad move. Especially considering their resources seem to go into COD. Even a franchise as big as that can only sing for a time. People will bore eventually.
True Crime was hella fun.. hard to believe they'd get rid of it.. i mean, the story was completely bogus hahaha, but nonetheless, super fun game.
I can't stand that loud mouthed asshole. He loves himself so much. This isn't even news, he didn't say anything edgy, this shouldn't have been approved. All it is is a Twitter update.
The market is over saturated with those type of games at the moment. I have even seen a stand alone guitar sim you just plug into the Tv with out any console. Guitar Hero was the big and best version...unfortunately, like it's COD franchise, the imitators are running wild trying to capture some of those sales. In the end, there is nothing left for nobody. the same goes for all popular games...look at Section 8, a blatant rip off of Halo. EA, THQ...they are all the same. They follow the money trail and that trail leads to Activisions door and the 4+ BILLION dollar profits. Unfortunately, Activision tried to keep their game in the limelight but there is just to much competition...right decision. Look how DESPERATE EA is to capture the COD audience. BTW...cliffy B should mine his own business. When he's making nearly 5 BILLION in profit a year, he can criticize Activision...same goes for all the ignorant haters.
Just goes to show that the casuals can lose interest very quickly. GH was massive for years, now mini-games, dance games and fitness games are are top sellers. Companies should be careful to abandon the loyal and consistent purchasing core market for quick short-term cash from the casuals. With MS focusing 95% on Kinect and Nintendo now being synonymous with 'family gaming' - the majority of the core market may just fall into Sony's lap, if not this gen then probably the next.
Guitar Hero and Rock Band are milked but their not as bad as SingStar.
RIP Guitar Hero
Music games were over saturated. Let's not forget some of the expensive instruments that you bought from some of the older games in the series weren't even compatible with other games in the series. Everything was just way too expensive. Hell a lot of those songs could of easily been filled on multiple DVD discs or one Blu-ray disc. Let's not forget DLC for those games were a complete rip off. I borrowed Guitar Hero 3 from my friend played it for a week got bored then returned it to my friend the following week. Edit: There would be times where I just play music off of my Mac/PC and turn off the volume on my TV pretending like I was playing new music because I didn't want to buy the DLC. LOL. (Did anybody else try this but me?)
"Let's not forget some of the expensive instruments that you bought from some of the older games in the series weren't even compatible with other games in the series." maybe if you bought them on the PS3, but on the 360 every instrument that has ever been released for a GH/RB game works with every other GH/RB game.
As of this moment I officially will not buy any activision games ever again; unless its used and from the old days (ps1, etc.), and I will start selling any activision games I do currently own I was really hoping for True Crime to see how much difference there's been but now....F- ACTIVISION
I was never a fan of Guitar games, but i still play them once in a while
Is this the ONLY picture we have of Bleszinksi? I'd argue Activision didn't "love" GH, but whatever.
