The famous composer for films such as 'Requiem For a Dream' and 'Moon' reveals that he and BioWare are BFFs.
Mhh. I don't know Mass Effect OST was so great, it reminds me Krautrock debut or 80's synth with this amBient flavor that could match Sci fi ambience. Hope Mansell will do something great, but for the moment i'm sceptical
Really liked this ending track from ME1: http://www.youtube.com/watc... ...and the launch trailer song from ME2: http://www.youtube.com/watc... ...along with Jack's theme (especially around 2:10): http://www.youtube.com/watc...
That song from ME2 is from a group called Two Steps from Hell, they have other really great song as well.
I re read my first post And it makes the impression i m saying that i dont understand what people found to ME OST. In fact i'm saying the total opposite just forgot one thing : "I dont know; Mass effect OST was so great..." Yes i Love ME OST, i was just sceptical Mansell (even good as he is) can make a better one. I think it's clearer now ;)
Mansell's scores for Requiem, Moon & Black Swan are amazing. This news has just reignited my interest in ME3!
The original theme will still be used but I'm glad they're getting in a film composer for the last game to give it some fresh direction. Personally I wanted Daft Punk after their work with Tron: Legacy.
This is a bittersweet feeling for me. On one hand, Jack Wall did an incredible job with ME 1 and 2. They're two of my favourite soundtracks from this gen, so it kind of sucks that he won't be completing the trilogy. On the other hand, Mansell has done amazingly brilliant works in the past (Moon, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, etc), and his powerful talent will definitely work well with ME 3's themes.
Nice try Clint Mansell
And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!
Great news, The Fountain soundtrack is one of the most favorite albums i've got, i listen to it all the time (the whole album) Have a listen http://www.youtube.com/watc... Big fan of (MOST) of his work (Black Swan sucked)
Yeah, it's kinda hard to really improve upon genius, especially Tchaikovsky's. But I think Mansell did a decent job, and the music helped the story along well enough.
That was the problem, i wasn't feeling the film (meaning i was enjoying it when i went to see it) so i wasn't feeling the music either, it's a shame because i wanted to like Black Swan, just wasn't for me, Machine Man sounds more up my street http://www.imdb.com/title/t... same writter, same director and same composer
Awesome! His composition for the film Moon was incredible. He has a wide variety of musical talents and styles so I'm excited to see what he'll offer ME3.
Well that should be good. So did anyone else think how ridiculous it was that they advertised Mass Effect 2 as having all kinds of imports from Mass Effect 1? Really it had just a few things here and there and didn't do much to alter the gameplay... unless I missed something that I am not aware of.
dude there were a whole ton. Few of them were MASSIVE but there were enough little details throughout the entire game for me to feel like it wouldnt have been nearly as special without the imported shepard.
despite how good he is mass effect 3 will have a different sound and you can't just do that, that would be like taking Marty O'Donnell off of halo 3 it just wouldn't work.
Just like when they said "Heath Ledger? playing....THE JOKER? that'll never work"
who? What I'm talking about is changing a component of the game in the middle or end of a trilogy, it may be incredibly good but will it feel like Mass Effect and have it's atmosphere. that is what I'm talking about and not the skill of the composer.
I can't WAIT for this. I hope it's a collaboration!
Yay! Can't wait to listen to it while saving/let it burn the earth. Please no 'BWRAAGGG' like Inception.
but then I realized that he's being replaced by the guy who composed this: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I used to love that song. Then everybody else did. Started showing up in commercials, the "overture" or whatever from Two Towers popped up, and now it's just long played out.
I like this.
Muscling out the little guy for a "big name" hollywood composer...sigh. Bioware's quest for money continues. Very disappointing news, there is no reason for this, the music for the first two games fit perfectly.
Awesome news. I don't think either Mass effect had anything special as far as a score goes, and Clint should certainly help that.
Awesome news... Clint's Moon ost is fantastic... looking forwarded to it on my PS3...
The vista scene/score in Hocks mansion was memorable.Ignore Mansellian genius because it really isn't ....Hollywood may disagree but the moon hasn't crashed into the desert just yet.No need.
Sweet mother of God.
Mixed feelings on this. I LOVE Mansell's ost work, but I also feel that Wall's ambient music fit the game well. I LOVED the intro music to ME1. At any rate, Mansell is a genius and he's unlikely to screw this up. I just hope Bioware didn't fire Jack Wall--not fair after all his great work.
i'm gonna miss jack wall :'( i hope this new composer would do a great job.
Did anyone dig Clint Mansell's band Pop Will Eat Itself back in the 80s and 90s? Or am I just really old? Either way, I've put together a playlist of PWEI songs that Clint could use for the Mass Effect soundtrack: http://raidingparty.net/fea...
